There's absolutely nothing whatsoever that Chaplin or Frieser did yesterday that Woodrow couldn't have done and more than likely he would have put one of their chances at 0-0 away too.

 

I did not see the game yesterday, so I cannot argue the point. My post was based upon what I saw last season.

Last season, Woodrow could not press as Struber wanted when we did not have the ball. That is why he preferred Brown in the front two. He could not work hard enough and was not positive enough with his passing, and that is why he was not a success in the No10 role. The point that everyone is making, that Woodrow was at his best in a front two with a big man is correct, but Struber does not play that way because that type of front two does not press in the way he wants. Because they do not press in the way he wants, we win less ball back early, and therefore we create fewer chances when the opposition are least prepared, that is, when they have lost the ball in a bad position. That is the point I am making about the system not being as much about individuals.
