We were much the better team before the first red card and if we kept playing the same way and applying the same pressure I have no doubt we would’ve taken 3 points away today.

Anyone blaming Struber for the defeat today are either dense or wind up merchants.

Good point well made, please try in future to either refrain from arguing points you don’t even fully know about OR educate yourself and then come in to the conversation.

****, forgot that. We are really short of cover then. Might make it clear to the board we need reinforcements, unless there are any academy lads ready to step up. Not an ideal situation a couple of games into a season though.

No, counting Jordan to play one of 3 centre backs. We might be forced to go back to a flat back 4. That would be a shame though, as we lack width when we play like that.

Even more limited when the two centre forwards who have scored this season can’t get a game and the manager repeatedly picks his mate in midfield when he’s shown no ability whatsoever.

The red cards today were poor, the first more than the second, but we’d played well before that and still looked completely toothless up front. We need cutting edge, we need another centre forward at the club yes but we certainly don’t need the two most natural finishers at the club on the bench.

In my opinion neither Schmidt nor Woodrow are the answer to our upfront problem.

They're no more of a solution than Chaplin or Frieser.

We need something else either as well as, or instead of.

But we won't splash out to get what we need.

A question for Struber, why does he think Schmidt, Frieser, Simoes, Brown, Halme, Chaplin and Anderson plus probably one or two more that i’ve forgotten, why does he think all these are better strikers than Woodrow?

I dont think they are 3 game bans
Mads is definitely only 1 game for 2 yellows
Helik is only one game if sent of for denying a goal scoring chance - unless of course the ref sent him off for violent conduct - the ref waved an elbow in his justification - in which case its a 3 game ban - we are assuming it was for the denying a chance but surely the ref could see Walton already had the ball so I am not sure what reason the ref will give in his report

Woodrow needs to play and start his goal tally again. He's the best forward we have at the club, simple as.

I think if the sending offs hadn't happened it would have been a different game. Bring on Schmidt to try and catch them on the break with 30 mins to go. Fresh legs in Styles in midfield running at them.

Second sending off was game over. I agree we need a striker with some aerial power though. Not sure Woody would have had much impact today.

I'm not even sure that we need a big 'un upfront, having regard to the way we play.

We never get to the bye line.

We need someone mobile, who can play his part in our system. Bit like Ian Rush. Poor man's version would do.

Scmidt has a classy finish but disappears for ages and doesn't press well

Woodrow has lost his way, is not a natural gegenpresser, and probably needs someone to feed off

Chaplin is too inconsistent - you never know what you're going to get

Frieser - not clinical enough so far.

Woodrow, in his last 20 games, has scored 6 goals, in his worst spell since he arrived. Jordan Williams has got 1.

It may have escaped your notice that Woodrow scored 15 in the championship last season. He got 19 the year before.

Problem is Helen Struber won't change the system to get the best out of him. I think he will be sold (not that I agree we should sell him BTW).

Even not at his best he still scores goals though. If we lose him as well as Brown I worry. Plus I think Mowatt would be more likely to leave as well . I just find it bizarre that some on here seem so blase about losing our best players, you don't get fans of other clubs doing this.

My take on this is that Woodrow is amongst our best players and there are few players we could afford who can score at the rate he did last year. However I dont think he fits into the system the coach has.

The problem for us is we cant afford to miss his goals but he doesnt seem to fit the system. I know he scored goals last season but it seems (to me) that since struber has got his system more embedded there is less of a place for him.

Imagine saving up all your vitriol and anger for a man who has come from a foreign country to manage a team in absolute shambles and turned one of the worst defences I’ve ever seen into a solid, strong unit
