Telling me that my access has been added to my membership card so once government permits I can use the card to gain access to league fixtures at Oakwell It mentions I might not be able to sit in my seat but nothing about not sitting in Oakwell itself Interestingly its called Oakwell and not the stadium in Grove Street Final line We look forward to welcoming you back ‘home’ as soon as possible I assume other have the same mail No indication at all there that there may be any chance that my seat may be in the DW stadium or Deepdale
Two questions: 1) Was 'home' really in quotation marks? 2) There's no indication we'll be starting games anywhere that isn't Oakwell. Just one Daily Mail report, no official club response, and no approach to the EFL
I think the report does have something to it. But the way I read the quotes from the 'source close to the club', I think it's more a case of games behind closed doors at Oakwell is very costly. Not sure they'd be looking at a permanent move away.
But assuming fans get in sometime this season I cant see how we would switch to playing behind closed doors at say Wigan - I cant see that our lease for Oakwell allows us to take a holiday for a few months and then come back later in the year or next season. To be fair though the whole thing doesnt make sense other than as a bit of sabre rattling - lets say the club did arrange to play the rest of the season at Wigan I think we could all have reasonable cause to demand our ST money refunding once fans are allowed in
Pure speculation. I wasn't suggesting that there's nothing in the Daily Mail report as there clearly is, but without the club commenting on it, and with no approach to the EFL yet, there's absolutely no chance it's getting mentioned in an official club e-mail.
I've not received an email yet, oh for fvck sake, they're not being sent out in 'best looking' order again are they? Is this because I wear a George at Asda jacket to matches instead of a North Face one?
No, they're doing them in Gangway order this time, like picking he season ticket up before last season. Right queue at the back of the East stand to pick them up. What's this all about? Get to front up queue. "What's your gangway number?" Says assistant "Haven't got the foggiest luv. I can tell you the stand I sit in, Row and seat number" says I. "No, that's no good. I need your Gangway number". Says assistant "Good grief" says I
That is how i read it. I think it's all a bit of badly thought through PR to try & get some leverage in buying the ground cheaper. There is definitely truth in most of this story. The spat is public. There is no way they could move the club in the long term away from the town & I don't think they have any intention. At the end of the day they are the majority shareholders & I have to say the arrival of Struber & signings since January has shown a large turnaround, both in our fortunes and in them being less dogmatic in only signing kids, so I am not as sceptical as many on here. There are always 2 sides in negotiations, maybe they are trying to shaft the Crynes a bit over the price, to some extent that is business.
On the opposite end of that spectrum, and far more common was something like this: "Hi there, are you Reserved or Reserved+?" says I. "East Stand." says fan. "Right, but is it a Reserved membership or Reserved+?" I say. "Season ticket mate." fan says. "Yes. But there are two types this year, Reds Reserved and Reds Reserved+." I explain. "No idea pal. East Stand I'm in. This one here." says fan. "Have you got a letter or your old card perhaps, something to go on?" I ask. "No mate." fan tells me. "Wonderful. What's your full name?" I asked. "Joe Bloggs." He says. "Right, and do you know what gangway you use, Joe?" I ask. "No. But I'm pretty much central wear I sit." Joe says. "Right, so gangway three possibly, we'll look through those first then buddy." and off I go to check. "Can't find you in there, Joe. Could it be gangway four maybe, in the lower tier?" I ask. "Lower? I'm in the upper." Joe points out. And on and on... I only did a couple of hours to help out. Not much help occurred.
