As there appears to be growing number of our fans who have the knives out for Woodrow & Mowatt , I would be genuinely interested as to what valuation these fans would put on these players . Myself , I think we should do everything to keep these players as they are both of the quality required for the championship & are clearly two of our best players . I ask this question because I believe if the club do move them on then the fans who want this will expect better replacements & therefore would require the club to pay out more in transfer fees than we receive .

I’d say £3m mowatt, or £1m if he’s in the final year of his contract. Woodrow £5m.

8m for Woody, at least. Same for Mowatt

Value and what we get are two entirely different things. Both should be approx 5m given the daft money floating about. In reality we will sell for 1-3m, with the infamous 'interests retained in their future clause.

Of course the figures will be 'undisclosed.

Based on Saturday's showing, they both need to pull their fingers out if they're to realise anything like their potential value. 59 votes so far in the BBS MoM poll and Mowatt has 2 votes, Woodrow none. Early days, I know, but hardly off to a flying start, considering they're supposedly our brightest lights.

I don’t think you’ll ever get fans to reach a consensus on this. Mowat’s value to Barnsley is higher than his value to another team in my opinion, which is why we wouldn’t get major money for him. Does he walk in to another Championship team and instantly make them that much better? Not sure. Very little resale value as well.

Anyone scouting Woodrow the last eight months aren’t writing you the big cheque some fans demand. We all know there’s a better player in there than we’re seeing the last 20 games, but he hasn’t pushed his transfer value up recently.

I’m happy having them both as Barnsley players anyway but it is funny how there’s this wave of comments about ‘binning them off’. Madness

Your response was everything I was looking for , already after a few replies, the value people are putting against these players are well into the millions, however some fans are as you say wanting to " bin them off " ,so what they are saying is that despite these players being worth millions of pounds they are not good enough for us, madness .

The thing is, future resale clauses with lower up front fees often work out more lucrative, especially if the player goes on to do even better at his next club. Stones is a great example of this

OK so we got (maybe substantially) less up front for him, but we got a huge chunk when we made the big money move to Man City

I appreciate this won't always be the case but there's a good chance it will with younger players we sell

It's the same ones who are slating them, that will be criticising the club for selling them too cheaply.

Mowatt is in the final year of his contract, and his resale value is diminishing. I'd say a million is the most we'd get offered for him.

Woodrow has more potential value, based on the time he has left on his contract, his age and the number of championship goals he scored last season. He'll command a much higher fee. His form leaves a bit to be desired though which makes me doubt whether we're likely to have many offers for him at present, with the potential fee being so high.

Wont get 8 million for both. I'd say we will end up getting 3million for woodrow 1.5 for mowatt. Are they worth more yes but we under sell most our players

But that's just opinion. Just because some fans value Mowatt and Woodrow in the multi-million category doesn't make them so. Please don't try and belittle people who don't overly rate some players by using terms like 'madness'. If you rate them, fine.

Their value is what someone is willing to pay for them and then us accepting or declining the offer.

I think all fans would agree we need to bolster the squad and acquire more players. I personally rate Mowatt and Woodrow and unfortunately Woodrow is going through a dry patch (excluding Forest in cup). Imagine if we got rid, we would also need to replace them. Struber has talked about 'maybe 3' more players, well Mowatt and Woodrow leaving would make 5, and we would end up potentially like the start of last season. We need to build on what we have.

Mowatt needs to stay. I think we will struggle massively if he leaves, we know our owners arent going to get us an experienced championship midfielder in his place, it will cost too much money.

The sale of Brown should mean that it would take a higher offer to get any of our other players, as we shouldn't need the money as much. Sadly, I don't think the board see it that way

I’m a big fan of Mowatt but he’s in the last year of his contract so it’s going to be a million or there abouts at the most.

As for Woodrow I think he’s a good player but I find it hard to see anyone paying big money for him as he’s kind of like a second striker & not many teams play with one.

He can’t really play as a lone striker at this level, he doesn’t have the pace or the physical attributes & he can’t play as a wide forward.

Unless your team plays with a front 2 why would you pay good money for him?

Mowatt i would say is very valuable to us but would struggle to get in a lot of teams due to his style of play and lack of speed which is covered up by our pressing game. In the last year of his contract vale would be approx a million

Woodrow has a very good goal return in a very poor team. You’d be looking at that and thinking put him in a better team and expect better results so approximately 5million.

We can’t afford to lose either.

But if you had been scouting him since Christmas I don't think you'd be recommending that your Championship club pays £5 million would you? I think Cauley will turn good for us again and this is just a blip in form, especially if we add two or three players of quality to the squad, but there's no hiding behind the fact his performances the last 15 or so games haven't been up to it at all.

I thought Woodrow played well against Forest despite the goal.
