Think it’s fair to say

We have looked sound at the back, decent in midfield but for the second consecutive game pretty clueless in the last third.
Suppose Luton have looked sound at the back too, but it has to be said most of us on here would have put that cross away, never mind a professional footballer!

 

Don’t think the midfield has been up to much. Apart from a few short spells, Luton have been in control

 

Sorry but the midfield have been poor.

 

I didn't say they had been good but if they had been poor, surely we would have been overrun.
There is a distinct lack of creativity and goal attempts from them though though.
Certainly didn't help that the ref bought every bit of **** from their centre half though,

 

I thought defence looked poor as usual when actually put under pressure. Fine when there's no pressure but prone to mistakes when it comes.

Midfield none existent. Created nothing at all.

Strikers might as well have stayed at home.

Manager. Uninspiring.

All in all extremely worrying. Absolutely no progress at all

 

We look solid, which is more than we could say for most of last season! Luton only had 3 shots. We just need to create more.

Today was disappointing, but let’s not be dramatic like people on Twitter - it’s one game and we weren’t that bad!

 

Poor ball retention from midfield and forward line only thing to take from this game was a good defence display .
Midfield created very little imo .

 

I think Luton's midfield out tactics'd us, not a good showing

 

Okay I accept we conceded it happens. Midfield and attack its just so slow. Chaplin is a great lad but not championship quality for me I've said that from day 1. Woodrow as disappeared. Freezer looks like he's got the barnsley cursed too can do anything but score. Very slow up top. I we should be okay though but ain't worried about losing woodrow

 

Poor, we lost too many points to relegation rivals last year which very nearly cost us, we’ve started in the same vein. Rotherham and Wednesday winning too so It’s very early day’s but that’s 3 teams we’ll be fighting against all winning.

let’s see how the next few games pan out.

A very poor game. Luton are big and very physical, the kind of side we struggle against. They pressed very well and the ref let them get away with a lot. He gave Woodrow nothing and bought every trick in the book from Bradley and co.

In my opinion, neither side looked like scoring until Collins' splendid strike. Then, when we'd actually created a decent chance, Frieser missed an absolute sitter. Toothless performance. Pigged off that we've lost the first game of the season.
However, I'm not going to go overboard. Had we won 1-0, I wouldn't be thinking we'd win promotion, so when we've lost 1-0, I'm not fearing relegation, either.

 

Two teams with similar styles cancelled each other out, one team had a proper rounded striker. We need a number 9 who will run his blood to water and is alive to chances. The midfield need to earn the right to play inside opposition 18 yard box. That starts with pressing wing backs putting in dangerous crosses to actual bodies in the middle of the box and at the back post.

 

I'm more frustrated with the powers to be, tbh, its been obvious for ages that we are lacking up front and yet there has been zero recruitment in that area

 

I wonder if we're still pursuing the young Croatian striker?

 

From what I've seen of him he drops deep, a false 9. We need James Collins or someone of the same ilk, Cosgrove at Aberdeen comes to mind but I'm sure there's a few lads in Bundersliga 2 who could easily fit into this system with 150 games under their belts.
