This. A lot of places this week have been busy. It’s pretty normal though - grandparents getting away, and then other folk with no kids taking advantage of the cheaper rate now the Summer Holiday has gone. Filey has always attracted the older end anyway - although that it changing a bit now.
By the way, just to balance up the age debate about Filey, I once shagged someone in a bus shelter there when I was 22, so you can’t say that there’s nothing there for young people.
We have a place in Filey, I've spent a lot of time here over the summer, including the first 2 weeks of August! It has been really busy with younger people all of the summer holidays, but it is always quiet and has more older people about outside of July/August!

Popped to Filey last summer. It was only about 10:45 am on a weekday and left straight away as they were already nowhere to park and it was rammed.
People moaning ( some) about the crowds, you do realise you are actually part of the crowd (if you are amongst it) right ? ( btw not necessarily on here, but in general)
Chuff me Filey....sounds more popular than ever ...gone are the days when they borrowed bodies from the local morgue and propped them up in bus shelters to make the place look busy...... TM are you sure your shag was breathing lol
Still ranks as the worst job I ever did. Had some great nights though, in that huge aircraft hanger of a bar.... It did finance my first guitar which I bought in Scarborough.
A great memory I have from those days working at Butlins. I worked in the still room one day, dishing out tea, coffee and bread to the waiters. One waiter was a complete a-hole, always rude and unpleasant when dealing with us porters (the lowest of the low) but fortunately for us he was blind in one eye. So we took turns putting slices of bread on his blind-side shoulder. He never understood why the campers laughed at him until he leaned over a table and all the bread fell off in a camper's dinner.... I nearly wet myself.
Love Filey. We book a cottage at the Bay which is the site where Butlins Filey used to be. It's right next door to the Primrose Valley site and is therefore ideally placed for travelling out for day trips to Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough. As a resort, my view as to why Filey could be perceived as being the favourite of Senior Citizens is that unlike other places it appears to be "safe " with suitable places to wine and dine, plus the beach is accessible and unlike other resorts on the East Coast doesn't appear to be gaudy and therefore is not favoured by the younger generation. My lad, his wife and two kids have just returned from the Bay Filey's sister resort in Cornwall. Reckoned it was absolutely stunning. I was at Butlins on holiday at the Filey site in 1971 with a load of mates. I had never been on a holiday like that before. Was intrigued to hear the boys who had been before refer to it as " Billy's brothel" and that it had "hot and cold running waitresses". Always remember one lad took two dozen condoms with him so that in his words he would not contract " chalet rash". He shouldn't have worried he came back with them all and ended up selling them at the local pub. My experience of the place proved to be different to theirs. Myself and a mate met up with two very nice girls from York and we had a great week in their company. They were on holiday with their parents who kept a close eye on them. In the end after a two year courtship, my mate ended up marrying the girl he met and they enjoyed a happy marriage and have three kids together before going to live somewhere abroad.
It's Talland Bay in Looe mate. Must be good if it's better than Filey ,as in my view the Filey site is fantastic. Only criticism regarding the latter, is that on site pub " John Paul Jones" is over the top price wise. Thing is that because of the difficulties regarding drink driving, the nearest boozer is a good fifteen minute drive away, so guests tend to use the on site bistro and pub before turning in for the night. Plus point is the pub is dog friendly as are some of the cottages. What we tend to do is watch a bit of TV after tea and then take our little dog for a walk, calling in at the pub at around 9 pm and having a couple of games of pool, before sinking a few before knock off. https://www.beachretreats.co.uk/self-catering/cornwall/cawsand/3-the-bay/
Is that the Nansledan site at Newquay? I thought it was housing only, not holiday accommodation? It’s very much like the Bay at Filey though. The Nansledan site is one of the sustainable “towns” created by Prince Charles. Not a fan of how it looks to be honest - all a bit sterile and characterless - like The Bay at Filey.
