Do you think we are now signing players a step up from recent season, Frieser, Helik, Davies or is it same old? Compared to last years signings Diaby Schmidt Halme who im not putting down by the way are the new 3 chosen from a higher quality pool of players? I think all three improve our squad immediatley even with loss of Brown, Mcgeehan and maybe Diaby. Ive based this point on a few videos and hope.
I couldn't tell you either way. We know as much about Helik as we did about Anderson, and Schmidt arguably had more tangible experience than Davies currently does. Frieser is the one that stands out as someone with good pedigree and experience, but we won't know for sure until the end of October.
I think Frieser is real prospect and will hit the ground running. Michal and Christie - Davies may take a little longer. But signing two players who have appeared in the Europa league one of those who had the opportunity to play again in the Europa league this season does seem to suggest more experienced acquisitions than previous.
Would love a ball winner in midfield, protecting back 3 or 4 while supplying mowatt to create and doing a bit himself. Whiteman sounds perfect, but just like the other lads weve signed I know little about him either.
C Cant comment on quality of new guys, time will tell, but if over their career they end up better than Schmidt does then I’d say we’ve done well.
I think Schmidt was worth every penny and utilised properly with work horses feeding him will score a bucket full of goals.
On paper it's an obvious improvement to go from signing guys who have barely played a professional match, to signing guys who have Europa League experience. I just hope they work out as well as our "barely played a professional match" bunch like Halme, Simoes and Odour who have all done well.
Unknown. If we'd managed to get Messi when he was in headf.cuk and maybe a couple of older head Prem legends, we would have KNOWN that we'd started dealing differently. As it stands though, we have more unknowns. On the face of it, more experience this time around, and like all fans I am hoping they will be a success. As for the targetman conundrum, I am more and more of the opinion that if we ARE more flexible in tweaking the model, then this could be the year for an older Paul Wilkinson type signing up front. Paul didn't get us promotion single-handedly when he was with us, but he did have the know-how to bring other people into a game and they did it for us.Imagine Cauley, Paddy and Connor feeding of of that sort of experience?
Someone like Peter Thorne, Aaron Wilbraham, Glenn Murray, Teddy Sheringham, Wayne Allison or Nigel Jepson. Maybe even Akinfenwa.
I can’t really seen any progression or improvement on the types of player we are signing. Maybe even slightly backwards which is understandable due to reduced income
I don't know whether Frieser & Helik are an upgrade yet, but they're certainly more experienced than last Summer's signings. Christe-Davies is definitely another inexperienced youth, but with potential. There's no way I'll write any of them off, or sing their praises, until I've seen them play a fair few games for us.
Lets watch the first 10 games. For once I'm optimistic. If both Cauley and Mowatt go, that may change. I reckon we can lose one, if money is spent by Struber. Easier to keep Cauley as he is on a longer contract, if Mowatt doesn't sign a new deal.
