Saw that was shocked & couldn't believe it. I follow the US news quite closely, and I haven't even seen this mentioned on any of the major news outlets.

Imagine giving Tommeh and his mate guns. Let's all play soldiers and show how tough we are.

It's like the battle of Cable Street is going to get relived, but this time with semi automatic weapons. I could seriously see this being whipped up in many cities & Trump declaring it's impossible to have another election & lo & behold his fascist pretensions are complete. He could put the army on the streets, stop all protests, etc, etc.

But he can't can he as the way their system works it isn't down to him at state level? The Portland Governor has point blank refused support from Trump and the armed forces and they're on something ridiculous like day 110 of protests.

The uprisings/riots (they're far removed from just protests recently) that have lasted minimal days and without much media have had armed forces support, approved by the governor of that state. When that's happened calmness has been restored.

If things escalate to shots being fired there will be a point where there is no choice. The police aren't going to be enough. This is how Mussolini & Franco got totalitarian rule. Trump has already questioned postal voting fraud & this would be a perfect excuse to delay the election & be seen as the powerful ruler that restored order. There are so many semi automatic weapons it could be carnage. This is the natural conclusion of fascism.

It's crazy that's for sure. Never seen anything like it, but I think it's as much a sign of views over there towards the looting and protesting (on both sides) as it is to do with Trump per say.

There's no chance the election gets delayed. The concern on postal voting is valid though, but there's no loophole that can be enforced that shifts the election. To be honest, I'm not sure the Republicans want the election being delayed or cancelled right now.

I hope you are right. If you'd told me in February we'd be banned from gathering with 6 people in our homes I'd say that would never happen in the UK, but very few are questioning it now. I'm wondering if the 6 people includes protests / marches? It isn't clear until the government "exemptions" are published.

Protests and marches were already exempt but people just ignored it and a blind eye was turned in terms of anyone criticising it. Imagine it will continue that way - but hopefully they'll be no reasons for protests or marches anytime soon.

Trouble is this ‘Covid proof’ venue as always leaves a loophole.
Not sure what the definition is but in theory could some one just set up in their home sanitiser stations etc and space out seats and then have as many as they want round?

I assume a COVID proof venue has to be one open to the public or a membership , or for hire to the public, like a village hall / wedding venue. Clearly everything is clear as mud, so people will look for loopholes.

The Music Industry organised a socially distanced protest in Leeds Millennium Square, with numbers limited. Also venues were lit up red. It got very little publicity in the press as it was done responsibly. If it had been a protest by several other groups whose cause I support, but not their methods during a pandemic it would have had loads of local & national coverage. As far as i see it those protests were legal if you only went with people from 2 households at the time & congregated with others, as if by chance, like say going to the park. As long as you were socially distant. There's nothing that's been said thus far that this 6 people limit doesn't apply to marches / protests. Given my lack of faith in this shower of poo, I'll wait to see how it is implemented.

These militias have been around for decades in America.
2nd amendment is basically so people can own guns not so they can protect themselves from other people but so they can protect themselves against an unpopular government.
These people live their lives thinking they are in a Hollywood movie.

Some of the music venues I follow in San Francisco were lighting up red along with the ones I saw in the UK. Limited to my social media feed though because I follow those accounts and not from the media sharing it.

I wanted BrewDog to go big on supporting independent venues but we'd already launched so many initiatives at a company level it wouldn't have landed very well. Instead we're just talking to venues about how we support them with re-opening when that hopefully happens.

The only valid concern on postal voting is the delay in getting it counted, something Trump has been doing his best to make worse by interfering with the US Postal Service.
The occurrence of fraud in previous US elections around postal voting have been proven to be minute.

As with everything though it depends what you read. I've not got the inclination or time to go searching (and I'm sure you don't really care either) but there were recent tests done where x amount got lost in the post, x weren't checked properly, etc weren't signed correctly, etc. and it was a small but pretty significant number. And there's no denying it is open to fraud with the only state that's really used vote by mail in the past being Oregon.

It’s just waiting for one tipping point. All it’s going to take to flash over imo is for a BLM protestor to get shot and killed on video by one of Trump’s supporters.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind there will be battles in the street, at least in the South and the Pacific Northwest.
