Alot for a player who has never kicked a ball in championship. Hope we get alot for Woodrow if he does leave this window
It'll be instalments up to 5 million and then add ons for 10 million that might never happen (apps, goals, promotion within certain timeframes). It was never going to be 10 million that was just CackAnthony giving it the big un.
Our fans go on about toney asif he is still the 19 year old we had on loan that even then scored some important goals for us. He isnt worth 10 million but he will score plenty in championship next season.
You would think for that kind of money there are better players about. They have used the market abroad quite well the past few years so I'm surprised they have spent that ont an unproven player at this level.
£4m paid over two years, with potential add ons of another £2m. Newcastle getting 15%. Darragh is even on their website downplaying how much money the club has got. Saying they’ve lost £4m last season and will lose £4m this year. Smoke and mirrors. Like the time Marcus Maddison was allegedly going for millions and was the best player in the EFL. Ended up leaving for nowt. Toney will do well at Brentford. Great player, developing nicely. Easily top end Championship standard anyway.
Football payments in installments and potential add-ons that can't be budgeted for are whats killing clubs. First thing that should be banned imo.
From within this industry, I can honestly the say the biggest single issue with football in this country is the money paid to players at football clubs. Obscene at every level. It's a good job I'm not in charge of a club because I'd implement a salary cap of £1,000 a week (which is more than enough for the work they do) and the money saved would see the club improved in all areas, with increased pay / more staffing and cheaper tickets for supporters hopefully delivering a full house every week. That would affect the quality of footballer you could attract but it'd be a proper community club. No transfers. My club would look for those without a club, give folk an opportunity. Massively political we'd be as well. Pure socialism. Banners everywhere. A huge singing section. To get through the turnstiles you'd need to scan your ticket and say 'Fùck the Tory cúnts".
If Carlsberg did Football Clubs I’d pay double for my season ticket just to have on it **** the Tory C unts
Exactly he was 19 year old when he was with us and he scored some important goals for us including at wigan for us to reach the jpt final, he came on as a sub in both the jpt final and play off final. He wasnt as bad as people make out, jon Walter's and jay Rodriguez looked like raffle winners when they was on loan to us but went on to have a great career I think Ivan toney will have a good career too and will score plenty next season in the championship.
