wonder where the money is coming from https://www.footballgroundguide.com/news/new-southend-united-stadium-gets-green-light.html
First paragraph of the article Southend United have announced that they have reached an agreement with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council to build residential homes on the site of the current Roots Hall Ground and also at the site of the proposed new stadium. Income from these developments will provide the necessary finance to build the new stadium and is a major step forward for the Club with this project.
While I don't want a new ground, I'd love to see a new completely state of the art West Stand when it finally gets built. There's still plenty of land around Oakwell to immensely improve the match day experience.
I think we'll end up with something like Preston's that doesn't add to capacity but makes the ground look tidier.
Can only hope and put a standing section there next to away fans. Bet its crap from away fans when we sing as our fans are miles away from them. Especially when they bring 600 fans in a big away stand
That would be completely fine by me. There's plenty of potential to increase capacity if needed at a later date. Hopefully starting with the dreadful gaping corner in between the east and north stands.
That would be good but I don't want Oakwell to turn into a soulless bowl of a stadium. I'd have that corner filled but I'd make up the gap in the other corners by having a longer West Stand.
