Ignore that. The table I saw was an 'all-time' one. You're very correct in terms of current infection rate, Barnsley has fallen well down the list. Which is good to know.
http://ukcovid19.nw.r.appspot.com/summary Filter to "Cases in last 7 days". You might have to click the filter twice to get the highest first. I think Barnsley is now on page 8. It's a live dashboard which changes by the hour during the day.
Cheers pal. I've bookmarked that now. So it seems I can go about my life as normal here in Bradford, just can't go inside friends/family homes. But can go to the pub together.
Last point before I log off. When these restrictions are usually enforced, there have been a few days 'before' they come in. These areas have been informed an hour ago, and that they start at midnight. During Eid. Goodnight everyone. Up the Reds.
Newsnight just said one set of journalists told can’t meet in pubs others been told you can , only applies to homes . Looks like my mate will have to come over here
The way the government have been all the way through has been a mess. So many people struggling to cope with life and seeing no end to it all, so are struggling badly with mental health. Even after a vaccine I wouldn't be shocked if some places kept up the unfriendly perspex screens and mask wearing at times was still compulsory. The world has changed forever.
It's not going to be forever. There needs to be a bit of a stiff upper lip surely? As crap as things are right now being young in this country is still a hell of a lot better than most others.
I live in Leeds, where the r rate has been very low throughout & we have a large muslim / asian population, so I'm not sure the two things necessarily tie in. It seems to have more to do with poverty than race, according to the information i've read.
But we can't trust the government. This is a brilliant piece by Janet Street Porter...... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8576889/When-did-policy-flattening-curve-ruin-lives.html The plan was to flatten the curve which we have done. Now it's about eliminating the virus which is totally unrealistic without a vaccine. The rise in infections is because of target testing and allowing anyone have a test so finding more asymptomatic people which is a very good thing. Deaths aren't rising in line with the infections. The medical experts now know much more about Covid and are learning more all the time. It shouldn't take a vaccine for normal life to return. Even when Covid is eliminated through a vaccine I am pretty sure many places will keep up screens or stick to card only payments. It wouldn't be a shock if in flu season the government keep mask wearing mandatory to protect the elderly.
People will still wear masks on public transport. Reception staff will not touch letters, patients will have appointments over the phone or via video conferencing. People will keep their distance from each other and frown when someone coughs or sneezes near them for years to come. It's such a shame it's took a global pandemic for people to employ common courtesy.
