follow the same pattern as previous years, ie sell our best assets.
We ourselves know what their game is but if Struber is to be backed next season I wonder if he will insist on experience being brought in to support the young kids already here, like Sollbauer.
I just hope we don't get a repeat of the Stendel farce.
In their last update the owners seemed to admit some mistakes had been made but I'm pretty sure we'd heard that before. They need to be clear what they want to happen and how they also see the future regarding the fans hopes and expectations.
It'll be no good this time next year hearing the same excuses churned out, or even worse the reactions from supporters who've "seen it coming" months ago.
I know this is old hat but there's not as much time to act if the next season is due to start in September

Part of it could be not acting, i.e. don't flog our best players without adequately seasoned replacements!

This was always going to be one of our quieter years anyway, I reckon. The team that has struggled at times last season are more or less kept together but now know each other well enough to push on and perform well next season (although slightly different from last time round as we didn't get relegated). It's January and next summer that will be the key, particularly if we have a successful season.

For me it’s not necessarily experience we need now I reckon 3 quality championship ready players added to this squad would give us a great chance of being successful next season.

I don’t think we need to worry too much about lots of departures. Because we’ve used that many players there’s very few stars in the squad & it’s still really a group of young talents that have shown promise but other than Mowatt & Woodrow I cant see any attracting big bids & the current financial climate just adds to my theory.

Everyone’s raving about Styles & Walton at the minute for example but both have started less than 10 games this season so realistically is anyone going to come in & bid decent money for them? I’d guess no.

I’ve seen Brown & Chaplin mentioned as possible targets for other clubs but other than them both having an incredible November & December have either done enough throughout the season to get a move to a bigger championship club for big money? I don’t see it.

Solbauer’s 29 & has been brought in by an Austrian manager that knows him. Unless Struber leaves & wants to take him with him I really can’t see a club coming in & offering good money for him.

The policy is to develop players sell them on whilst balancing the team and continuous improving .
The last twice has been calamitous because we didn’t have players on long enough contracts to firstly develop them then hang on for better offers and secondly to bring in ready replacements .
I think now we have started extended contracts to hold on whilst the next generation come through .
We are bringing quality players through the academy and slowly introducing them to the first team to replace others and hopefully this is a continuous practice.

Sam Morsy definite worth a shout proven at this level.

I can see moves for Woodrow, Mowatt and Brown happening. I could also see two of the three staying, but we won’t keep all three. Struggle to remember many seasons in the last 20 years where we’ve kept all our best players - these owners or old owners.

We’ve moved on a fair few players since the start of the season. Palmer, Wolfe, Styles and Simoes fill some of that void, but you’d expect more experienced players in terms of first team starts to be brought in to add to the squad.

Then you’re hoping for two or three signings of real quality to help us build. Fantastic chance next season of cementing our Championship status.

    Can't afford him.

(That's one thing we've got in common with Wigan!)

Whoever goes and whoever stays, with the potential to be minimal activity due to Covid we have to simply learn from our last two seasons and bring in quality over quantity. Obviously won’t be easy and the rest will be the same plus some of these young ens have championship experience now but we need more.

Found this website, it says Morsy on 11k at moment and I thought we could stretch to that, but then l looke further down and saw Keiffer Moore on £5.5k a week.
    Surely that can’t be right?

If it is true then he can't have left us for the cash, as he surely would have been on similar here.

I think them figures are way out.

Moore wouldn’t have left us if Wigan were offering 5.5k

Looks like tosh to me , another site quoted their total wage bill as £16.4m , puts ours at £9.6 , their attendances this season have been a good 3000 below ours

The owners have always said it’s a long term plan. And for me, it was critical that this time we stayed up. It doesn’t matter how, but just that we do.

This enables us to retain what we want/can and then build more. L1 would have meant a quick-fire sale at least, more so due to C-19.

I can see maybe Woodrow going, and maybe a few fringe players - Bahre, Green and Miller etc. But nothing more yet. January and next Summer are the key times we’ll have to make big decisions.

Could be feasible to be fair, those figures are basic salary and comes to just short of £10 million so not u feasible for another 6.5 in bonuses.
The bit that made me doubt it was the 5.5k for Moore, unless he got a huge signing on fee or we actually wanted rid.

You’d think so, but bear in mind this is only basic, so could be huge bonuses and/or signing on fee.

Why do we always quote footballers weekly wages? I suspect it's because they (agents owners etc) know most regular football supporters can't be bothered to multiply it by 52. Because £572k per year for Sam Morsey playing in the second level of English football in a small provincial town, getting small crowds, might just raise the question of financial sustainability!

And that doesn’t include NIC/Pension Contributions. As well as other goal bonuses and perks etc.

And that’s also before any ‘signing on’ fee is considered too.

Added to that, that most fans forget to minus 20% VAT off ticket prices too.
