Mr Struber! I'm crap at predicting things, but I don't think Mcgeehan will pull on a Barnsley jersey again, and Dougall is off. We need a midfield general, a Matty James type, maybe. We need to keep Styles, that young lad is a damn good prospect.
Yeah I'm concerned about the midfield too. Mowatt has been great but just worried he'll experience burn out and become stale.
If Styles can perform in front of a crowd the way he has since coming back into the team, he will be like a new signing next year. Looked a class above most on the pitch against Brentford(obviously barring the likes of that Benrahama). I just hope that the reason everything(barring the clinical finishing!) started to click since the restart is not due to the lack of pressure from the stands.
I don't think players are bothered what comes from the stands to be honest. If I was a player I wouldn't be bothered what some oink on minimum wage was shouting at me.
I know for a fact that many players do(not at our club, but I've been on nights out with players from other clubs who have confirmed it). Like you say, most would just say "**** them", but many also take the comments to heart. One, in particular, saw a sports psychologist to help him block the negative reaction from crowds out. It's the same with forums like this. Loads of players and their families read them and for some it sours their opinion of the club. I was told of one player about 8 years ago was going to sign for a team towards the top of League 1, but when he saw the fans reaction to the rumour, he decided to go elsehere.
for me providing mowatt stays we need a midfield 3 of Halme, Mowatt and styles. Halme in front of the defence allowing styles and mowatt chance to roam and create chances.
There have been a few negative comments on here about Mowatt recently, but for me he's had an outstanding season. His work rate is phenomenal and he's been the driving force of the team. He fully deserves his player of the year awards.
We have 4 very good young lads that are fighting for a midfield place in the team Palmer, Simoes Inacio, Styles and Wolfe. I think the future looks good.
He's done a whole Q&A on his Twitter so his whole account is worth the read, but here are a few links where he mentions leaving Boro, wanting to play attacking mid and get forward more. Now in normal circumstances I wouldn't think we'd have a chance (wage demands and all that) but in these times if we were interested who knows? He's from the area as are the three clubs he's played most of his games for, so he would likely want to stay around this area so he doesn't have to uproot his family. He would be great alongside Mowatt, not as his replacement.
