A shambolic state of affairs. Add Bambo's drug charge and the football authorities haven't exactly covered themselves in glory...
Prediction: Wigan will get hit - unfashionable club Derby & Weds escape all punishment - fashionable clubs Money money money.
Sheff Weds and Derby will be deducted just enough points so doesn’t put them in any danger. Just like they did with Birmingham.
The EFL really need to be making a statement with one of these so called bigger clubs to show you can’t get away with it, only trouble is if they do you can almost certainly see Wedn & Derby appealing and threatening to sue if they resulted in relegation.
Points deductions are all well and good but relegation could hinge on goal difference which impacts hugely on teams at the bottom. As well as points gained from financial misconduct the affected teams also scored goals in those games that had a positive effect on their goal difference. Any Club found guilty of financial misconduct should, as a minimum, be automatically relegated.
A more balance article, with a less sensational, and more accurate, headline than the clickbait one used by MailOnline.
I'm sick of hearing about clubs breaking the rules and then threatening to appeal when they get caught. It's time there was a rule like the one on appealing against red cards, i.e. you can appeal, but if you lose the appeal the punishment is increased. Clubs know they've done wrong and are just trying it on. That should lead to further punishment in my book.
