'Clubs are always claiming poverty yet they can spend thousands on overnight stays when a 2 hour coach ride will do.' The situation hotels find themselves in right now it would not have cost thousands to put the team up for one night. It's also not two hours. I would assume we've found somewhere local to train (probably the hotel grounds?), or we're using the hotels facilities for swimming, etc.. Better to do that, recuperate, and head to the game than to try and do it and then sit on a coach for three hours.
I don't think that's burning money, I think it's common sense to go down early and stay over. Flitcroft wanted the best for his special humans
What do you reckon? £90 a room ish, and say 20 rooms tops with the squad and staff mostly sharing. Maybe only 15 rooms. £1500-£2000 ball park. Hardly earth shattering and eye watering.
We stayed in Leeds before Leeds away under the big dafty Morais. There was a wedding the night before and some of the squad were disturbed 2 or 3 times during the night.
Expensive and classy, I wonder who got the honeymoon suite http://www.oldpalacelodge.com/hotel-gallery/
Well they've saved plenty of hotel bill money over the last three months. They may have had to ask the poor overpaid lovies to pay for their own rooms. Worrying times.
They are in a ‘bubble’ - they may or may not be sharing rooms but they’re sharing changing rooms and showers etc! Even if they’re not, you’re looking at 30 - 35 rooms. Still probably only c£3k, I don’t think that’s a massive consideration if they prefer to not travel that far on the day.
I'd be hopeless as a footballer because I never have a good nights sleep the first night in a strange bed.
I can see players being allowed to twin. When you consider it's now full contact training they're essentially being treated as a household are they not? Genuine question. I bet they could get 18-20 rooms for less than £2k and then evening meal and breakfast on top no doubt to make it worthwhile for the hotel. There's hardly a rush on right now for that sector, and once you've committed to opening and bringing people back off furlough any sums are valuable even at a massive discount.
