New BAME coaching scheme

Offering incentives just creates artificial numbers that cannot be sustained once removed. I'm still a bit puzzled why the playing field isn't already level though so to speak. Is somebody actively saying to BAME people don't apply, don't go into coaching? I could be wrong but has it been considered that the element of not bothering to apply for these schemes amongst the BAME community is the main reason for the lack of numbers. Is the barrier actually that group of people adopting the negative mindset of 'not worth applying because of my ethnicity I won't get anywhere'? Same old you can't win the raffle if you don't buy a ticket.

I'm putting this into the mix because I hear it so many times and not just from this example of coaching roles.... The BAME community seriously need to change this 'can't even be bothered to apply' attitude. Obviously, in life, there are many cases of blatant racism from all ethnicities, but on the coaching side of things, I'm struggling to see the so called barriers.

I'm not saying it is the be all and end all, just part of the whole issue.

 

Well if this scheme encourages more people to apply then that's a positive surely?

 

Only without the bursary yes..

 

Ad just like to see some British managers in line for the top jobs in this country BAME if they are good enuff is great..instead of the merrygoround of same names poppin up at top clubs (Like Jose).. there was a comment on radio yesterday that no current British manager will get a top 6 club. ..thats a frightening thought..was Ole Gunner more qualified than Howe/Dyche or even Big Sam...or is there a underlying bias in that area....would be great to see a black manager who had come thru the ranks and played prem footy manage England cos he'd understand the british game..
