The guidance says all venues "should ensure that steps are taken to avoid people needing to unduly raise their voices to each other. "This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from playing music or broadcasts that may encourage shouting, including if played at a volume that makes normal conversation difficult. "This is because of the potential for increased risk of transmission, particularly from aerosol transmission." so probably allowed but with no volume is the guess, as usual a guideline not a specific instruction. all whilst sat down.
They can have sound but it has to be low enough to ensure people dont have to raise their voices to speak...
so it seems , although id say any large wall mounted TV playing at a normal volume would be too high for these restrictions. 4.5 Entertainment Objective: To maintain social distancing when providing entertainment within or outside restaurants, pubs, bars and similar venues that serve food or drink. For many restaurants, pubs and bars, providing entertainment such as recorded music, live sports broadcasts, quizzes, live musicians or comedians are an important part of their business. At this time, venues should not permit live performances, including drama, comedy and music, to take place in front of a live audience. This is important to mitigate the risks of aerosol transmission - from either the performer(s) or their audience. There will be further guidance setting out how performing arts activity can be managed safely in other settings, for instance rehearsing or broadcast without an audience. All venues should ensure that steps are taken to avoid people needing to unduly raise their voices to each other. This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from playing music or broadcasts that may encourage shouting, including if played at a volume that makes normal conversation difficult. This is because of the potential for increased risk of transmission, particularly from aerosol transmission. We will develop further guidance, based on scientific evidence, to enable these activities as soon as possible. You should take similar steps to prevent other close contact activities, such as communal dancing.
The days of paying at the bar with cash and then standing there propping it up talking to the bar staff are gone.
I think the days of any type of small talk are gone too. I see people refraining from having full blown conversations and fear and anguish on their faces with every sentence that passes their lips. People don't want exposing to the virus at all costs. People say hello to each other and ask how each other doing and you can see they want to get off.
Laura is the sociable one. I'm quite dismissive if I think somebody is a numpty I'll say to her drink up we'll have a walk
I hope this is not the case. My local could never be described as being a large establishment more of the cozy variety. Get 20 in the bar and it could be described as busy and when there is a big game on the tv there is no room to breathe. I think both Sparky and Metatarsal would concur. As for paying.....I’m not in the habit doing that
There might be a pub app where we can all text or Skype each other. Problem solved. Then we can all enjoy and hear the tv for a change. A virtual pub brawl could be the way ahead.
Looks like Boris and Co are Turning all pubs /bars into Sam Smith venues..lol.by the sound of itgoing on the above posts... Lol . Looks like that ignorant 2hat humphrys idea is spreading... He's even put the price of the beer up by a quid if reports on Cudworth born and bred page are true... Mind you it will be to pay for the new signage they've just put up at the pinfold... Pmsl... West Green club not opening this week... Chuff knows how you stop folk singing shouting when they've had a skin full... Once again some one at the top passing the buck... Coming up with an idea and not thinking it through correctly... At least its saving the Government paying out money.... Safety / the publics health thrown through the window again and allowing the onus and expenditure to fall on the publicans... Crazy if you ask me ..
I'd prefer that if the racing is on. I always end up sat with someone who wants to talk to me during the last half furlong.
