To win next General Election. Now who would have guessed that - Lol. Labour Party report - a huge mountain to climb. Kier Starmer is trying to revive a dying party. The thing that really galls me is that Blair / Brown / Mandelson plotted a way for Labour domination. And the Labour Party just ripped it up and threw it all away. Beyond frustrating !!!
What do you want then Nudge? Beyond the reinstallation of Blair as leader, I mean. Every step they take has you tutting and rolling your eyes - make some suggestions.
Keir Starmer is in regular contact with Tony Blair with the current leadership they have moved closer to the centre again, Interesting to see how radical their policies are now and what their priorities are to achieve social transformation and a fairer society.
I won’t be voting for them again until they get rid of the staff members who deliberately sabotaged their own chances in elections. Unfortunately I don’t think Starmer cares. The evidence is all there in copies of emails sent but he’s done nothing about it. It’s a disgrace that so many people put so many hours into campaigning for the party all the while staff members were deliberately trying to lose them the election & were delighted when they did. How can he let them same people still work there now?
True to some extent but if the opposition and its leader is so poor the government has to try really hard to lose it
You are correct. The opposition has to present itself as a credible alternative, with a leader who is perceived to be capable of leading the government.
This is crucial, and I think is what Starmer is doing a really good job of! He's a proper statesman. Seems competent, unlike most other politicians at the minute, and he seems to have some integrity. Hopefully the contrast between him and Boris's rabble will become clear.
Since SNP took over Scotland it was and will always be an uphill battle to win, infighting amongst yourselves dunt help either.
Let's hope so. There is a long way to go. The current government currently appears totally incompetent. However, the Tories are very good at getting people to believe the "not truth". This is where Cummings in important to them. People are suckers for a catchy slogan.
Don't forget he bought his mother a field to put her Donkey in. That's the best the right-wing nutters have come up with to disrespect him up to now, apart from Nudgers rants about him and the Labour party and that is trivial and nonsense.
Labour died with John Smith , the damage that Tory Blair did to the party particularly the grass roots organisation and his gerrymandering of MP’s selection , has proved beyond repair . The Bliarites should hang their heads in shame over their behaviour over the last decade .
At some point around 2016, a bunch of very clever Tory strategists saw a golden opportunity to cause a huge paradigm shift in British politics that would see them boost their voter base beyond age old lines of delineation. They used what Brexit told us about xenophobia and (yes I fuukcing am going to use this word) racism to stoke up fear and hatred of those who were different. Muslims and black people born in this country. Hard working immigrants doing everything they could for their families. Faceless foreigners who supposedly dictate to us from a Brussels in which the UK held disproportionate sway. The suspicion and fear of the other was stoked to turn the white working class against, not the rich and powerful, but people just like them who looked and sounded different. The oldest, most basic human instinct to be wary of what seems unlike you to the touch. And the white working class were duped. Minorities were trampled on. Even the middle classes will be shafted by Brexit. All people this Tory leadership see as pawns. All for continued Tory power, the personal destiny fulfillment of psychopathic megalomaniacs and the ability to rig the economy to favour their families and their class. Our politics are now becoming so American. Two party system, working class (see blue collar) voters putting their faith in conservative old money and decrying the 'liberal' agenda which is in reality the only body of voices who stand up for them. The idea that the state curbs freedoms, taxes are bad and private enterprise is good for everyone (the most mind-blowing misconception of them all). To the point that my pal on £20k a year from a Council estate voted Tory because he believed he'd never be able to get rich under a Labour government as they 'hate wealth' ffs. The Tories knew this was in the offing and played it very cleverly given the Trumpian blueprint which we cannot ignore. It worked, and the Tories will continue to practice in this way to keep those seats, leading to the damaging far right sentiments we see given fuel in their wake. In contrast to what the original poster says, the neoliberal Labour leadership of the first decade of the 21st century paved the way for the decline in the support of traditional voters. They failed to address the issues of immigration, silencing and discounting the concerns (not all of which were racist) of working class communities. An ostrich with its head in the sand, pulling the rug over so as not to deal with the ugly issue and bigoted ideas of a portion of their voters. And we can pinpoint a particular moment when that word, 'Bigoted', was used in a scenario that encapsulated this. In the election campaign trail in 2010, Gordon Brown was unwittingly recorded scalding an advisor to 'not put me in front of anyone like that bigoted old woman again', when leaving a door knocking exercise in County Durham. The woman's crime? Simply bringing up immigration as a talking point. New Labour didn't want to know, or even acknowledge it was an issue on the minds of many. Mithering Milliband and Cuddly Corbyn Labour stood up in support of immigration, but again in a way which left many infuriated at being 'told' rather than listened to. Of course, I'm not saying Labour should have pandered to xenophobia. But the continued failure to listen and enter into discussions about immigration with those in the working class concerned has contributed to this. Grown up conversations, highlighting that Britain is a welcoming nation that must do more to safeguard its indigenous working class population, might have helped go some way. But that's only a fraction of it. Be left in no doubt, the Tories are reprehensibly complicit in offering a platform and legitimacy to abhorrent, prejudiced views and actions which might otherwise have remained the eccentric ramblings of a few BNP, beer bellied lunatics. The future is scary. We move ever closer to becoming the 51st state.
We have just elected one of the most racist, Greedy divisive ,corrupt, incompetent clueless headless chicken govts in our history on a one slogan election . And yet the media still says it’s labour that needs change and the country gobbles it up. It’s the Media on all platforms that have influenced this country and the vast majority have and still are blinded by them whether they think it or not . To say labour needs change when Rampant incompetence is ruling our country needs addressing .
On this occasion Marlon the media are just reporting on a report from Labour Together who where looking into reasons for the election loss.
