I was at Ferrybridge services last summer waiting for a mate to arrive on his fireblade we were then riding up to Thirsk to meet a couple of others before heading for the coast. My mate was late and never is so getting worried I gave him a ring, he was on the roundabout just before the entrance. A foreign truck driver had turned right onto the roundabout hit a car head on, forced Dean to mount the verge and had then gone up the M62 eastbound exit slip road and was heading toward Leeds but on the eastbound side of the M62. I think at the time it was on Look North, driver had stayed overnight at the services drinking in his cab and was 3 times over the limit. My mate was scared to death nearly got hit head on by a HGV. The car driver was uninjured but she was really upset we waited with her until her husband arrived. Can’t imagine the carnage he’d have caused on the M62 if the police hadn't have gotten to it as quick as they did.
Wonder what you did to receive that honour?!!! I've considered putting him on ignore as I can't be bothered interacting with someone unwilling to give other posters respect and admit they're wrong. I don't have anyone on ignore at the moment...if it gets to that I'll probably just leave.
I don't have anyone on ignore either. It ruins the BBS imo to randomly have posts that don't show up, yet you still see people responding to them. Same as you, I'd leave before doing that.
I think there should be a mandatory course every 10.years just to check we still know all the highway code etc we learned when taking our test and ato learn any new stuff like info on smart motorways.
Agreed. I wouldn't be against making everyone take a full test every 10 years, but at the very least there should be a theory test.
D Don’t leave, the way I see it I’m as entitled to post as anyone else. There are a couple of posters who often respond to me in a derogatory way I used to get sucked in to justifying what I’d put but now I just ignore them. If you leave the site it’s like you’ve been bullied off and then they’ve won. All we’ll end up with then is a site where only those in agreement will ever post.
I’ve only ever had one person on ignore but was I heck as like ever going to leave, I wouldn’t have given them the satisfaction.
I’d like to see everyone take their CBT including cyclists. Would really open drivers eyes to the perspective of both motorcyclists and cyclists and I’m sure it would make the roads safer.
I think expense would put me off the idea of a full test, but brushing up on your knowledge wouldnt do anyone any harm
Of course if this was brought in there would have to be changes to the way testing was funded. I'd make it a free test as long as you don't fail.
No idea who you're talking about but I BET HE IS OUTRAGED!! or at least types like he is , all the time!! Lol. World would be a nicer place if more people chilled the **** out.
One thing we can probably agree on the designer of that abomination should have a Christmas tree inserted and removed sharpish
@Tekkytyke Any comment? I'm curious to know what led you to think that driving down the hard shoulder was the thing to do
He's still busy researching and writing a dissertation in reply, and is probably on his fourth edit, trying to get under the 40,000 word mark.
Just catching up on this thread. How on earth did he think driving on the hard shoulder at 70 was the right thing to do?!
You thinks that's bad? I was passing at the same time & EVRYBODY except me was going the wrong way...
Can't see the problem myself, just make sure you sound your horn continuously as your approaching the stranded vehicles
