You do keep labouring this point and I don't know why. The daily death figures have always been historical with relatively few deaths which can be attributed to "yesterday" when they are first published. Your 23 (below) for instance in England on 25 May became 129 and is still being added to.
It's a pertinent point because it shows us with infections falling so are deaths. It's not a attempt to discount deaths (like Spain are doing) rather to just acknowledge the situation is improving.
Everyone being treated the same isn't the right way to go about it. If two primary school children now back at school were to hug eachother I would think they would be OK. But if one of them wanted to hug their elderly grandparent then that wouldn't be wise. Let's just hope the map keeps going in the right direction...... If we continue to see no second spike all all these busy places (bank holidays, public transport, beaches, marches) then the government won't keep social distancing around anyway. They get added at nowadays at a much lower rate though and we've just had our first sub 100 day for nearly three months....... It all sounds quite positive that we will all get a vaccine in the UK by Christmas too, which will help eliminate the chances of Covid spiking again in the winter if those that think it's a seasonal thing are right..... https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1...opulation-second-wave-lockdown-COVID19-update
That's fair enough, but even when the deaths were at their peak, there often would 'only' be 30 or 40 that had actually happened 'yesterday' at the time the figure was announced.
Sorry i don't understand what you are suggesting? Clearly at the peak a lot more than 30 or 40 were dying in one day. So we had 2 peaks. One was the peak in the numbers as they were announced. And another was the actually peak in terms of deaths on a day. Looking at the data for deaths by day gives a much clearer picture.
When a figure is announced, most of the amount is from earlier days going back weeks i.e. a 300 total might be made up of 30 yesterday, 80 the day before, 60 the day before that etc.
One can get a decent idea of the trend from the total numbers announced each day, particularly when aggregated over a rolling week. It's clearly not an accurate figure but it's a useful indicator. Alternatively, the latest known total for 3 weeks ago, say, would be more accurate but out of date. That would also be a useful indicator. Constantly reporting the number of people who we know so far actually died yesterday, on the other hand, seems to serve little or no purpose once the point has been made that the numbers reported today include deaths over a period of time.
Thanks, yes I know that's why the figures that are released daily are fairly meaningless in terms of judging the trend.
R rate is going to soar with these protests around the country. They are putting the country at risk regardless of the reason for protest. Might as well end lockdown now with these morons actively becoming bio bombs across the country. There is time and place for peaceful protest and it isn't now. These will be the same people who complain when we end up in total lockdown again.
Not the thousands of folk on beaches, VE conga line mob, mixed messages from government or Dom Cummings then? Just the protesters fault?
All of the above equally responsible or irresponsible, including the protesters. You can't make a distinction whilst we are existing under these circumstances for people who are out supporting a just cause.
You just keep repeating that but when I ask how you’d separate and police the population you fail to be able to deal with the very important detail. Like I said - I can agree in principle, but the devil is in the detail.
But if that behaviour is constant - then it is as accurate as anything else. And as that’s what we report, it’s a solid measure for the trend. It’s NOT an actual count of the number of dead, and has never pretended to be. They can’t just report ‘yesterday’s deaths’ because collating the figures isn’t that quick, so reporting ‘all new deaths we found out about yesterday’ is perfectly valid when it’s compared to ‘all new deaths we found out about on any other given day’ it’s only inaccurate if you’re daft enough to ignore the description.
Correct. However, it's sheer hypocrisy to highlight the protesters yet keep quiet about those mentioned by DavidCurriesMullet.
.... has to be the greatest sentence of all time. In what context other than the BBS could such a statement both exist and be understood by all those reading.
Hasn't the UK been separating and policing the population from Day 1, with distinctions being made between guidance and support for "key workers", those who can't work from home and those who can, for example? The line between those last 2 being particularly vague.
Our first sub 100 day since Boris announced the lockdown on March 23rd, infections getting closer to a thousand per day and Northern Ireland announcing another death free total. Scotland have done the same for the first time. The positives keep coming and in four weeks time these protest don't result in a spike we will look in a very good place.
