Due to tax car at the end of month but can't do it on line because MOT runs out 8 June.

'google' says to send e-mail to <dvsa………> giving car registration and date MOT expires - what happens next?

(subject brought up in earlier thread but can't find it) Thanks

By the end of the month, the MOT will have extended, at least that’s what happened to mine. :)

yes you will be able to use the notification V11. Wifes car needed taxing on 1st june but the MoT ran out mid may. it automatically added the MoT extension a couple of days before the MoT ran out I was then able to tax the car over the phone.. Go to that website and it should auto update the MoT extension.

I've been told, although I don't know if it's true, that you should notify your insurance provider if you go for the extension

I’d rather get it done than get the extension. Just because you can drive a potentially dangerous car around doesn’t you should or would want to.

JD - hadn't realised garages were still doing MOT's

    Interesting re notifying car insurance.

Completely O/T but nowadays you don't have to notify Insurance Co. of any medical condition you may have when insuring the car if DVLA happy to licence you.

Me too. One of ours was extended but as soon as my garage opened I booked it in. Passed with a few advisories (which I had done)but I would rather stay on top of it.

just got back from Tesco, there was a traffic police car there. I spoke to the couple who were with the car andd they said no need to inform your insurance.

I'm utilising the extension but did manage to speak to the mechanic we use at work who did me a favour and gave it a quick look at to tell me not to worry

Why would anyone voluntarily choose to waste £40 on an MOT Test?

this test has been around for years with very little change, meanwhile cars are built to ever increasing standards

look after it through the year, keep an eye on consumables like tyres and brake pads and an extra 6 months won’t matter.

I’d still be getting it serviced however as per the required schedule, especially if you intend keeping it a while which will help with the above.
