I don’t know why people keep making comments like this about the people at beaches and at the protests. There’s enough people in the UK for it to be two entirely different sets of people who are out and about in groups and who are wanting to keep their kids at home. In fact common sense would say they are very, very likely to be different people.

They may be but I know for a fact that some of those who are saying it's not safe are also dragging their kids round supermarkets and garden centres

I had someone at work tell me her daughter wasn't sending the grand kids back to school because it wasn't safe. She apparently told her this when she dropped them off at the weekend for a visit with the grandparents. The logic was lost on me so I just nodded and moved on.

I was told by someone they wouldn't send their kids back because it's not safe. Couldn't chat for long though because they were going to b&q. Kids were moody because they'd already been to 2 other garden centres that day and the post office to sell something on eBay.
Can't let them into school though they might catch something.

I'm sure it's not all, and given the government's mixed messages I can hardly blame people for being confused. We got the call from Greenacre today that my youngest could go back and I'm delighted. He really needs the outlet.

Going to school and catching something is one thing, the other is bringing it home and passing it on is what most people seek to be overlooking.

It's not just kids at school who we should be concerned for. My mums a dinner lady at my kids school expected to go back from monday even though she's in her 60s.

Schools need people of all ages to run correctly and safely and while the death rate and people still getting the virus is so high there is no way they should be even thinking about asking people to go back in.

I used to drag our kids round car boot sales. Never managed to find a buyer.

Think this is it, there's some cognitive dissonance at work. It's the same as the now famous story of the woman who rang the police to complain about how full the beach at Durdle Door was, having driven 90 miles too get there herself.

People don't realise that when you're in traffic, you are traffic.

Going by schools I’ve been in, there are lots of elderly support staff, lots of BAME support staff and cleaners and lots of very overweight teachers. I know there will also be the same thing in supermarkets etc. I’m not saying schools are anything special with that, I’m just wondering how they will have enough staff as it only takes a few to be off and you have big problems. Our school with 1600 kids only have 3 cover supervisors, with classes split in half, schools need more staff, not less.

I take your point about garden centres - but do they have a choice about supermarkets? People have to eat, and they need to buy food to do that - and if they can't get a delivery slot, do they leave the kids at home unsupervised or take them to the shop?

It's a real problem, the staff I've spoken to at Greenace share the concerns and have the added problem that the overwhelming majority of the students wont understand social distancing.
I haven't put any pressure on them when I have spoke about possible return dates, I have mixed feelings about my osn going back. I feel a little guilty if it's making teachers return and look after him when he won't be able to social distance.

I follow a photography page and a few weeks back there was a bloke astounded at how busy Knaresborough was. He then went on to say he'd never seen this particular view before which is quite a common place so was clear he wasn't local himself

Really don't get the stupidity of people.
