COVID-19: Championship Restart Club News Following Saturday’s announcement by the Government to allow elite sporting events to return behind closed doors, the EFL has this weekend agreed to a provisional restart date of the weekend of 20 June 2020 for matches in the Sky Bet Championship. So not the middle of may date that many on here were frothing at the mouth about then. Turns out that football like all businesses was simply making plans to restart when the government said it was safe to do so. Not quite the monsters they were made out to be.
Guess they will be able to give the 2nd string game time (no pressure from crowds now.) .. to see who's worth keeping... Big shout out for Conway... Guess you will get what you wanted from the recruitment drive... Relegation... Football starting back.. Some off us haven't forgot.....whos fault we are at the bottom of the league...
Sorry mate, but they said to start training again by probably middle of May for a restart 3 weeks later. They aren't too far away from that, just the extra week or so waiting for Govt clearance. Not proper footy anyway, with no crowds and this virus. I bet half the players won't be going 100% trying not to catch Covid.
No mention on the BBC website about points deduction being put in place the the clubs being investigated for breaching the FFP rules before the games restart - would be nice if they did - make it a proper scrap at the bottom
Down without a whimper. Some of the performances such as Birmingham and Cardiff were pretty abject with a crowd.
EFL investigation outcome into Wednesday is due in July. I'm sure it will coincide with the end of the season so the deduction in points can be calculated exactly to leave them fourth-from-bottom. For what it's worth, Carlton Palmer - what the fk does he know - says that Wednesday will be deducted 10 points (if you listen to the Undr the Cost podcast)
The only chance of survival is fear form Covid-19 amongst opposition possibly making the games easier. However, that fear is likely to be experienced by our players too.
Not until the authorities start punishing football clubs like the rugby recently did, Will change **** all regards fair play .
Does anyone think our team make up will be in our favour for the restart? Now I’m considerably older than any Proffesional footballer in the championship. However, lockdown has had a massive effect on my fitness and general ability just to stand up. I’m thinking a younger squad will be less affected by this... what are your thoughts?
Ues i think our young squad stands a chance . Beat Fulham away recently so as potential to upset the apple cart
