What are peoples thoughts on Dan Jarvis in Barnsley? I'm a Labour Councillor in Selby and always thought he seemed a decent bloke but have read and heard conflicting stories about him.
He sought leave to remain on the leave side before deciding not to remain with leave and leaving to remain. Or was it the other way round...? I'll leave it there and remain within threads I understand.
A letter in this week's Chron from someone who said she hadn't replied to his representations about the removal of environmental standards in farming in a bill that went through Parliament last week. He had written in support of amendments the NFU (hardly a hotbed of socialism) wanted to the bill and she didn't respond. Dan Jarvis and Stephanie Peacock voted for the amendments whereas Miriam Cates voted against. Chlorine washed chicken here we come! Quoted in this week's Chron she said DC did what any reasonable person would do which q.e.d. means folk like me are unreasonable.
Stephanie writes every week in the Chronicle,is involved in constituency groups, supports and promotes local and national charities. Sits in parliament, is a member of both women MPs and Labour women MPs support groups. Writes for Labour List and the New Statesman, appears on local and national media sites. I think you can follow her on Twitter and Facebook if you wish. Your comment may have been genuine or a dig but you will find that she and other MPs of all parties, are hard working and communicate through many platforms.
Genuine comment mate. Don't read the Chron and I'm not on Twitter etc. I voted for her by the way so I knew she sat in parliament. Previous incumbent sent out leaflets and did doorstep visits. She may well communicate through social media but she doesn't engage face to face with local people and hasn't done since she came to Barnsley.
As a Labour councillor I would have thought you would be familiar with Dan's work and views. Living in North Yorkshire, you would be aware of his cross party work on One Yorkshire and increased devolved role and powers for Yorkshire councils. If you are a Labour party member then he regularly appears in party publications. The White working class of Barnsley ,said one thing and did another. In my village people over 55,who claim to be labour supporters, rave about the PM and the Conservative party. Even though they and their children and grandchildren will be impoverished for many years to come. But you've got your country back. Think of where you live in Selby,do you believe that this conservative government is going to do anything for you?
