Wasn't going to post this but I really need to get this off my chest. Ask him if he can remember calling an elderly lady(mi Mam) and a young lass, fukin B@stards for asking for his autogragh which he did sign. This is not verbatim but he said I'd like to get on with my training instead of wasting my time with fkin b@stards like your. You can also tell him the reason I didn't put his nose all over his face is because mi Mam asked me not to
Well after getting it off my chest I don't feel any different to what happened, ADMIN please feel free to remove the above post, no need to drag up the past I suppose.
I was looking forward to this one, don't spoil it!! Having said that I never asked for autographs but I did speak to Danny at the garage in '97 and he was so smiley and relaxed, came across as a lovely bloke.
Darren Barnard - A really good speaker, comes across as a really down to earth lad. I love the Chris Morgan Baresiesque comment.
Superb again Ben - the conversation just flowed, as it always does. Well, unless Rick Holden is hogging the mic, obviously, then it's just a monologue . Really loving these insights into life at Oakwell, a life that we ordinary fans are not privy to. Not surprised to hear Darren's opinion of Steve Parkin of course. That would be shared by all of us, I'm sure. Sad though to hear him recalling the decline from a very good side with top notch players to a situation where all the best players were moved on and replaced by some just not up to it. Plus ca change!
Thanks again PoR. Was saying just now that the Steve Parkin era was my worst as a Barnsley fan. Something was horribly wrong with that appointment from the start and the quality of player we brought to the club was terrible. I don't even blame some of those players as they should never have been asked to make that step up. It actually made me feel a touch better about it knowing someone like Darren rated him so poorly (like catastrophically poor!).
Well I suppose Parkin had done well at Spotland so our misguided leaders decided he could emulate that with the Reds. Bizarre appointment which would not be the last since our agonising failure at the old Wembley stadium. Dark days certainly, but not quite as bad as some before, and since.
Really enjoyed tonight's stream. Thanks Ben and team for bringing it to us. Impressed with how Barnie came across and great to hear some of the things that happened during his time at Oakwell. Totally agree with him, that Steve Parkin has to be the worst manager we have ever had. He was totally out of his depth. He's currently the Assistant Manager at Sunderland which could go part way to explain why they are struggling to get out of League One. Love to know what Josh Scowen thinks of him, when he's live on our stream, but thinking about it, he would probably be reluctant to say anything.
Cheers for all these shows Ben... Ive enjoyed everyone of them.. .. Tonights interview with DB has in my opinion been the best so far. Unlike Rick he never picked his bugle or ruffled his hair once lol Much appreciated Ben for all your hard work thank you
I initially thought that as well Helen, but he's joined the Mackems on a permanent contract, which is surprising given his Dads original claim on Twitter, that the reason he left us, was because he needed to be down South nearer the wider family. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/who-josh-scowen-you-need-17642050
