I am not for one minute claiming that Kahn is perfect and TFL I am sure had issues but I think you are incorrect to say that C19 has only exposed issues not caused them. I can’t think of any viable way to run a service like TFL at almost full schedule under current circumstances without external cash injections. I also have little confidence that sticking appointed Tories in charge will make things any better
? He is the Mayor of London not leader of the party. He is certainly a better Mayor than Johnson was. But that’s not a very high bar to get over
sorry Dave was not paying attention I skimmed through and was saying the new labour leader is a better option....when does spec savers re-open.
Don't read them then. Simple. Especially if you're not going to address the issues but just moan about people picking on the Tory party.
Its like people living in a block of flats and there's one certain druggy playing music every night. Its blatantly wrong and everyone knows it. But theres a couple of people who want to join the druggy but he won't let them, so they stick to ganging up on anyone who complains, which in turn drives them to move. So the block of flats slowly turns into a drug den.
May I humbly suggest you watch the Sky News piece on the handling of care homes during the crisis to see what a completely incompetent shower of bare faced liars are currently in Government. They have lied through their teeth about their negligent and totally inept handling of this. They ordered elderly hospital patients to be dumped onto care homes either not tested or if tested without the results being passed on. They prevented wholesalers selling PPE directly to care homes saying the government would buy it and distribute it and then failed to distribute it properly. Hancock said he'd put a protective ring round care homes when actually he'd put a noose round their residents necks and kicked the chair from under them. Any person seeking to defend the tories needs to open their eyes and ears and wake up to the reality of the current situation they need to look past the empty promises of Johnson Hancock Gove Rabb and co in the daily press conference and the headlines in The tory rags like the Mail Express and Telegraph most of which are written by Demonic Cummings and issued to their tory supporting editors or owners.
I don't doubt that C19 has contributed, how can it not when demand for some services is down by 95% and the congestion scheme suspended (it starts again this week) however over 7000 staff have been furloughed. All I know, or am led to believe, is that there have been issues with finances for some time and things have come to a head due to the crisis. I don't know all the details but some of the requirements that the government have insisted on seem reasonable to me but others perhaps not so. I don't think the government will end up running it, they have demanded representation on the TfL board and financial reports but that's it as far as I know. I agree about politicians running businesses, or getting involved, though. In my experience they have the ability to make things worse than they already are.
Liverpool, Newcastle and someone else. Liverpool cited WHO test trace and isolate amongst other things.
One of the virtues of a good leader is their ability to express concisely and precisely what has been done, what is being done going forward, and what is expected of the people they are addressing. Boris Johnson is the antithesis of that. His message is vague, often contradictory, at best confusing and at worst dangerous. The Tory Party plan could be ground breaking, world leading, our very best route out of this disaster (I'm pretty sure it's not) but has been entirely lost in communication and will be derailed by the absence of any sort of clear instruction. The alternative is there is no strategy and the lack of clarity, the mixed messages and absence of any real substance is simply a way to cover this up. Either way we're being led by a charlatan. Policy is costing lives. Inaction is costing lives. Poor communication is costing lives. Johnson's innate lack of intelligence and inability to recognise critical advice almost cost him his own life: he was shaking hands with patients diagnosed with Covid-19 ffs. How can we rely on him to make the right decisions for the rest of us when he's clearly incapable of looking after himself? Having a bumbling oaf as Prime Minister isn't funny any more, if you ever thought it was. We're spiralling out of control through a disaster and it's not OK. He has to be removed.
I agree with every morsel of what you’ve written mate. It’s fcukking scary how poor he and his cabinet have been.
