Have to agree. I would rather see no Football than Football without fans, even if it means we get relegated I would actually prefer that to happen and the season ends, then we try and stay up and can't have a crowd.
It should be possible to 'green screen' the supporters into the stadium & adjust the crowd noise in proportion to Home v Away & the goal threat etc.. Think that could help with creating some sort of atmosphere, although I appreciate it might also turn out to be a bit naff (or a laugh). Regardless, reckon it has to be an improvement on the few minutes of Bundesliga action I caught today.
Who for? The players? The watching fans. Non starter for me. Just forget it until there's a time to play with fans in place. If that means void, then do it. More important things going on. Other industries suffering. Sick of the football thing now, and as a football fan of the last 40 years, this episode has done more to put me off football than before.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11640821/boris-johnson-near-normality-in-july/#comments Boris is looking for near normality by the end of July, so just cancel this season and delay the new one until September if they think we can be back watching then.
You are basing reality on something Johnson said in the Sun. Really those 2 paragons of truth and objectivity. I’d have more faith in Viz Top tips for basing decisions on
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...itude-aims-draw-line-confusion-new-rules.html https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-wants-uk-back-22040013 It's been said in a few places. I honestly cannot see it. Near normality to me would be no more social distancing but I can't see it by July. Even if by some miracle the results they get next month from the Oxford vaccine are positive it won't be possible. We aren't alone in being silly though as Italy in a week or so are opening swimming pools and gyms, two things I wouldn't be wanting to go near.
No I cant say I have any plans to go near any gyms or pools anytime soon. I did play golf last week though which is probably the safest sport after walking and fishing as its easy to maintain social distancing - especially the way I play. But back to the OP - I dont want a restart until we can actually go and watch - playing matches in empty grounds - probably neutral venues just isnt right for me. I would say that whether we were top, bottom or somewhere in the middle
We've seen all manner of UK comedy down at Oakwell this season, starting with The Young Ones and ending up with Bottom. We've also seen snippets of Fawlty Tackles Not Going In One Foot In The Box Mad's Army Only Fools and Keepers Defenders Behaving Badly It Ain't Half ****, Mum
I'd go in a pool sooner than a Gym, but I can't say either are high on my todo list. Will be interesting when they open again though, as I'll be having to pay for something I won't be using. At least while they're mandated to be closed the direct debits are paused. I'll happily pay the £50 a month though if it means I'll have a gym to go to when we are back to normality.
I have been happily going to the gym for quite a few years, and using the swimming pool, sauna and steam room, as well as sweating away in small spinning rooms and despite being in my 60s going on to 70 never bothered with a flu jab during the winter of 2015 when 28,000 people died over a normal average of 17000. We were not worried about those figures then and I was lucky enough not to catch the flu. I have, now, however had the pneumonia jab, and this year's normal flu one. If we can get coronavirus down to a similar level or less, then why should we not take up these activities again? We will be more careful about cleaning equipment and general hygiene and temperature checks and hand sanitizer stations will help. The same applies to sitting in a football stand. If we do not begin these things again, as an earlier poster put it, it means that the virus will have won. Keeping fit will help me if I were unlucky to get the virus. I have no underlying health conditions, don't smoke, am not obese eat a healthy diet and don't drink alcohol. I think I take greater risks going out on my push bike in traffic as I have been doing in this lockdown.
