Is there another way of looking at that?

Which is that we can't offload the majority of players who have failed at Championship level, and that we're stuck with a pile of debt by virtue of having to continue to pay their wages.

Of the 6 at Barnsley in the first team squad (24) in a total of 35 contracted players according to those figures. the club have the rights to extend 2 another year.
    Mowatt and Douglas
Rest being. Thiam. Radlinger, Pinnilos and ludwieg. (Loan)
So the position I would expect is better than first seen.
Cannot see new deals being offered to
Thiam and Pinnilos. be interesting re the situation throughout football.
    Radlinger ?
Would like to see Ludweig come but can’t see him being allowed to leave his parent club unless on loan again.
    Mowatt no brainier.
Dougal ? Could be released to free up cash for another signing.
Cant see anyone else pushing for a transfer at the mo. Given the situation clubs are in unless tapped up.

It's not exactly a useful statistic when these out-of-contract players have to go somewhere, probably to another Championship club. The worst positioned club is the one that can't attract players, not the one that stands to lose the most.

It’s true though. The less contracted first team players a club has the better off financially they are. We face a year of no crowd income so not sure how players wages can be paid. I suppose dropping into L1 will trigger cuts in wages but on the other hand television money will almost disappear.
The future of our club (and many others) is in doubt for sure.
