I just read this, it made me think of those moaning on this thread .... You're not "sick of everybody getting political on Facebook", you are sick of people who's political opinions you don't agree with, getting political on Facebook.
Sacked by The Times for fabricating a quote about his godfather Lied at various points in his role as EU correspondent at The Telegraph, all of which he's owned up to - 'eurocoffins', 'bendy bananas', 'banning prawn cocktail crisps' Lied to the PM about his affair in 2004 and was sacked. Twice. As mayor, he habitually lied - promises of fully manned ticket offices disappeared when he approved widespread closures, promised to eradicate homlessness - it doubled on his watch, police numbers etc etc £350m a week to the NHS benefit of Brexit?? He denied mentioning Turkey during the leave campaign, only to find his signature miraculously attached to a letter expressing concerns about the 77 million Turks apparently heading here Fed up of typing now, but a handy list here......https://boris-johnson-lies.com/
It's a major admission surely? Stating concern about something the British public were told wouldnt happen is nt "bashing" imo.
Thats just not true - the bit about all being serial liars Boris and his chums are in a totally different league - they lie even when there is written evidence that what they are saying is untrue I cant think of any politicians in the other main parties (exc Brexit party) that behave in this way - or even previous Tories. No way would Thatcher or Major behaved in this way - or if they had they would have been swiftly got rid of. Even worse when found out they just repeat the lie and their supporters fabricate lies against their opponents to try and divert and discredit them - eg todays heavily edited video appearing to show Starmer in a poor light concerning child abuse and giving the opposite impression of his actual position - being retweeted by members of the cabinet. Its a tactic that worked brilliantly against Corbyn and now they are doing it again - and they will continue to do so whilst they keep being allowed to by a compliant media and half the public
my real point was that I do not have any belief in any politicians My real point was that I do not have any belief in any politician, no matter what party they are in.
Then there is no hope - if there are others like you the country is screwed because they will accept the Boris lies over anyone who tries to be realistic and the country is going to be led by self interested charlatans for a long time
I reckon that if the PM keeps on getting publicly mauled by Starmer at PMQs, it won’t be be long before the tories are releasing hugely doctored vids of their own man to undermine him before getting rid.
sorry Dave but I think they are all self interested charlatans, and thought this for a good many years. Long before the virus.
I fully agree about Trump. Boris was lying in parliament yesterday however and, though it wasn't Boris specifically the charade of meeting the test target that one day at the end of May was sheer bare faced lying of jaw dropping scale. They blatantly fiddled the figures and treated the public with such contempt that they thought they could get away with it. Check back through my posts, i was no fan of Corbyn but he's not the one spewing falsehoods from the government side of the dispatch box. I'll give you two more bare faced lies. 350 million a week to the NHS and no border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
IIRC he wasn't sacked for lying to the PM, it was to Michael Howard who was the Leader of the Opposition at the time - although this has since been denied by Howard and claims it was his director of communications who Boris lied to. He was alleged at the time to have had an affair and forced the poor lady in question to have a termination.
Remember that time when the government lied to us, but we all knew they were lying, so half of us said to them, "you're ******* lying to us, you are" and they said, "no we're ******* not"? Well. Turns out they were lying. And it just doesn't ******* matter any more, because they're lying to us about other things which are waaay more important than checkpoints. File this one under "news that would have been a big enough scandal to bring a government down a few months ago but now it's like, the most unsurprising news ever. In fact it's barely even news. Anyway, a lie doesn't count if we knew we were being lied to in the first place."
The vast majority of politicians will obfuscate and/or fail to answer a straight question with a straight answer. Some politicians will swear black is white (lie). To my mind our current prime minister fall into this latter catagory. He has clambered his way up the greasy pole using any means at his disposal. Unfortunately, in my opinion, he has duped enough people to believe in him. However, as has been said, all political careers end in failure.
IMHO I don’t necessarily think half the nation were duped into voting for the tories. I think it was more to do with the fact the opposition were unelectable. The biggest debate probably in our history at the last election was Brexit and the Labour Party didn’t know what to support after years of debate. People were fed up of it.That is why we are stuck with these for for the foreseeable future.
Chlorinated chicken, hormone beef & most worryingly 'NHS not up for grabs' will be the next ones to be reneged on. for people not bothered about these lies my question would be ... at what point would it bother you? At what point would you make a stand?
