Emptied our brown bin and the big cardboard box of cans, bottles I'd left with it. Also threw the empty box into the skip on my drive.

A few months ago my Derbyshire bin men refused to empty my recycled bin as attached to some cardboard packaging was a very small piece of cellophane.
I phoned the council only to get a very rude and patronising response and a lecture about what is allowed and what is not.
The cellophane was about 6 inches by 4 inches.
I had to wait another 2 weeks to get it emptied.
To say I was angry about this nit picking arbitrary action by the bin men was an understatement, do they go through every single bin looking for excuses to not empty it?

Anyway I've stuck a great big notice on my bin thanking them for their efforts during this crisis, I do appreciate what they do and the risks they are taking.

Mind you, if they refuse to empty another one, the sign is coming down...that'll teach 'em!!

They are not emptying green bins. They are asking you to compost it

I had a walk to the shop last week and saw someone emptying two black bags full of grass onto a field.

That’s just a ridiculous thing to do, why go to all that trouble when neighbours gardens are closer. :D

My garden backs onto a field, I cut the grass yesterday. When I tipped the grass into the field I looked to right and saw another neighbour doing the same thing!

A few weeks ago our green bin collection started again. We pay for 2 bins and at the time I had 2 bins packed tight to the lids, heavy as ****, and one tonne sack also full. I asked the bin men on the day if they'd take the extra sack and they said no problem. Two weeks later, same again, would you please take the sack, no problem.
Don't know if it depends on your area or your collectors but I've got to say ours are great.
    Being polite does help though.

Got a green bin full and 4 sacks. You cant compost it if you dont have a compost heap. Dont know why the hell they've prioritised blue bins over green given we're all stuck in our gardens for something to do. Although we don't generate that much, the cardboard can be burnt if need be.

I used to work in waste management and there are generally 4 reasons why bin men will take extra waste:

    1. You politely ask them.
    2. You bung them a tenner at Christmas.
    3. You've got large bosoms.
    4. Your bin man is a nice bloke.

Sometimes, even if 1, 2 and 3 applies but your bin man is a miserable fcker, it'll get left.

I think green bin should be emptied one month and blue the next month.

Keep opening lid on green bin when we have good weather it dries up some of the content and produces a little more space in the bin.
