Hogans heroes. Soap was one of the funniest ever. Mindst you may have been tucked up in bed as a young un when they aired. And what about some films. Airplane. The police academy series. Owt with Will Ferrell. That scene in step brothers will live with me forever.

 

You can like both. As I’ve put my US favourites on an earlier post.

one of the funniest Was Big School but only ran for 2 series. Due to I believe other work commitments on the actors. Can’t believe that was 2013.

 

Around the same era. Used to stay up until about 3am on Friday nights to watch this when I was 16...

 

Definitely not. I don't find American humour remotely funny either. See my response about Friends but almost any American 'comedy' can be added to the list.

And don't get me started on the pitifully unfunny remakes of brilliant British comedies such as The Office or The Inbetweeners that they churn out. They should be charged with crimes against humour.

The Elvis impersonator was crazy funny.....when pissed it totally hit the spot

 

I really enjoyed Buffy it had a great balance to it, never took itself too seriously but still tugged on the heart strings and actually made you care about the characters. I really enjoy ScFi and think the best ones are where the balance of comedy is just right.
I'm with you on the American comedy iit can be ok at times but for out and out Comedy I think we have produced the classics in this country.

American sense of humour in question! You have only to look at who the US elected as President to get the picture.

 

I’m definitely in a minority here but love loads of American comedies including friends and I also like a lot of British comedies, never bother about the likes of Dads Army though my mum and dad loved it,

 

I love the old classics like dad's army, Fawlty towers, are you being served, porridge. Also love more modern English comedies like afterlife and Derek and like quite a few American sitcoms, friends, Brooklyn 99 big bang and modern family.
I don't like the kind of program that tries to do dry comedy like the peep show or IT crowd or those where they try for a cheap laugh such as south park where the thought process seemed to be put on a funny voice and make childish farting noises.

 

Definitely agree with regards afterlife and Derek also I think Brooklyn 99 Modern Family are brilliant, I’m late to the party with regards Big Bang, I’m just working my way through it but really enjoying it

I was late to that party too and watched it a couple of years ago. I found that it set off brilliant but as with so many shows these days it went on too long and jumped the shark as it were.

Also a slightly off topic point about modern family but it's a prime example of something I've always hated. Getting an adult to play a child. I'd ban it if I was in charge (yet another reason I shouldn't be in charge I guess) as I'm sure it causes of encourages paedophiles by making people think that a 14/15 year old is supposed to be sexy. Must be if the one on TV is sexy right? In reality it the one on TV is an adult pretending to be a child.

I’ve always assumed they were all kids so I had to google who you were on about...bloody hell I never realised Sarah Hyland was almost 30, I honestly thought she was about 16, unbelievable

 

Yeah it's surprising isn't it. It happens all the time and it shows just how easy it is to make people believe what you want them to.
