Yep it’s mind blowing but not unsuspected tbh .
I’ve always thought the figures were high and that story had just confirmed it .
What is surprising is the wages paid to non playing staff , I don’t know how they could walk pass the people on minimum wage and hold their heads up.
Roy Keane telling players to hold fast and not take pay cuts .
That really sums up the man imo I hope there’s a campaign to keep him off our broadcasting stations and banish him to MUFC TV.

I don't listen to TalkSport very often but I did on Sunday evening and Simon Jordan was on. What he had to say about the PL, the players, their wages, the way they are behaving and the attitude towards this c19 crisis was very interesting. He pulled no punches so if its available online it is well worth listening to.

Slightly misleading player wages using only highest paid.

but the highest paid player at one club being on only £8.5k a week could easily be us.

ONLY £8500 a week? I find that unbelievable as well. And that's considered a low wage for the job is it?

This is a football forum, are you really surprised at the salaries of footballers?

I’m not defending them BTW; They are what they are. But you must have been living under a rock to not know that we proposed lifting our salary ceiling to keep hold of a championship quality defender, but he still left us for a relatively small club who were obviously prepared to pay him significantly more than we were .

No need to patronise me mate, I know it's a football forum and I've not been living under a rock. I'm merely pointing out that £8500 is an unbelievable amount of money for people who kick a ball about once or twice a week. I am aware of footballer's salaries and have thought for a long time that their wages (even given their relatively short careers) are astronomic in the higher echelons of the leagues. That's all. Whether you , me or anyone else thinks Barnsley are a special case or more sensible/fair/realistic is another matter. £8500 a week in my book IS a lot of money per se.
