But you've done it sensibly by using click and collect. This is not about people doing DIY or anything else to keep themselves (mentally and physically)occupied. We all need an outlet right now. My parents in Greece are allowed out once a day for food or medical only. They have daily permits to sign. If you are caught out more than once then you get a 300 euro fine (and if in a car you get your plate removed for 60 days). I was talking to a friend over there a couple of days ago and she was bursting with pride for her people's, how resilient they were being. There has been 1 death there for a province with the same population as barnsley metropolitan Borough. Why are we so different? I question the motivation of some people on this thread (not you). Hope your son is doing OK. I know there is no visiting allowed at the minute and inpatients are very restricted which must be extremely difficult on a ward which is already restrictive by nature.
People are essentially going to supermarkets to do their food shop though (which is essential). I've also noticed that Asda have sneeked their prices up too. What I've always bought for a week is now costing me around 15£ more. Our European neighbours appear to be sticking far more strictly to the guidelines for some reason than us (or the Americans, or rather the trumtons). Why are we so special? It's like the song "we do what we want, we do what we want". As a ward based nurse I am experiencing a real **** show right now and our hospital is being badly managed from within. We fear for our safety at work. It is within this framework that frames my frustration I guess.
Forcing some people out of work while forcing others to do work that isn't really essential. Let's stick with the cake example on that one. Anyone buying non essetial food and drink are forcing people to work producing and delivering it. Now the flip side to that is its keeping them in work and at least keeping some sectors going. I don't think this has a right or wrong answer peros Just to be clear my replies weren't ment to be critical of you. It's clear you are coming from a well meaning place. All I was pointing out was a lot of factors are at work and as if often the case it isn't black and white.
Don’t know where you’ve heard that. Our Morrison’s has a policed and marked line through the barriered off clothing section which allows for a lot of people in a queue for the tills very safely. obviously I can’t speak for other branches - but my local has been very good at crowd control. the local Aldi is trying, but the guy on the door should have slapped the 2 stupid women who barged past me to get a trolley when I was waiting my turn at a social distance. in a very English way everyone else just rolled their eyes.
The local aldi stopped everyone from loading their shopping into bags along the back wall like normal. You have to load it into your car. Thats fine love but I dont drive....
Most people are obeying the law and the guidefined. If the Govt are wanting it to be stricter then they need to make the laws and guidelines stricter.
Yeah, and I normally have my bags open in the trolley, but they wouldn’t let me do that either - have to load it in the car!! I just shrug and accept it - we’re just too used to stupid rules that make no sense but inconvenience us slightly. where would we be without alcohol eh?
I asked her if she honestly expected me to pack a full trolley into two bags and a rucksack in the middle of the car park. She thankfully said no and allowed me to load up at the back. Today was a bit more common sense.. could load straight into bags, the back counter or your trolley then the car.
The virus has in my opinion, been hard hitting compared to other countries because the Government, BoJo in particular, dithered for a couple of weeks whilst others were locking down, allowing the virus to run riot. Not because folk are buying bedding plants, cycling too much or sat on park benches for more than five minutes, that's the message them in power want to project to the public, it's your fault, the great unwashed.
Lockdown was too late: of that there is no doubt. However the people I see expressing despair are working class people who are socialists, liberals, greens, and dare I say it conservatives! People who are not seeing their loved one's because they are adhering to the restrictions. People like me and my wife who cannot see our grandchildren. Opening more outlets leads to more people going out. This will lead to more spreading. This will lead to more deaths. This will lead to a longer lockdown. These are the hard facts. We must hold fast together as a community or we will be properly ****** up for a very long time.
