The problem is that once you start to allow 'younger people' (maybe under 40? 50? 60?) back to work then you completely lose control over quarantine, infection and cross-contamination. Additionally you're likely to get far more younger people ill, dying and requiring hospital treatment if you allow them to mix, because statistically they will be far more of them making themselves open to infection. Then they visit elderly relatives thinking they're ok and then what? Nightingale hospital had low numbers in part because they couldnt get enough nurses to cover, so they were turning patients away. Which strategy was that? 'Herd immunity'? And there was no rush into full scale lockdown - if anything they were too late (see California for a quicker response, far less deaths and lower rates of transmission)
Like I said previously you would have to be living like a Victorian or completely brain dead to not realise we are still in lockdown. I think it's more people need to earn money to survive so do companys, bnq have opened back up, 5 guys, taylor wimpey building sites next week, KFC considering re opening for take out only and no doubt many will follow suite.
I have notied that on a morning and evening the amount of traffic has increased quite considerably in my area of NW Leeds. No idea where they are going!
Exactly. While furlough money helps it isn't everything. Electricity bill at work so far while we've been closed is roughly £44,000. How can that be sustained?
The death rate in Sweden is significantly higher than that of either Finland and Norway. Sweden has over 2000 dead, while Finland and Norway are around 360 between them from a similar sized population. Sweden has, per capita, fewer deaths than the UK but Swedes are not as stupid as Brits are and didn't all go to the beach when the lockdown was announced - they also live in smaller households (many 1 or 2 people) and social distance more anyway.
Also.... Deaths per 1m inhabitants Sweden - 200 UK - 267 Population Density - People per square mile Sweden - 60 UK - 710 If you'd have repeated Sweden's tactics here, it would have been absolute carnage.
I think I must live in a different country to you. my sister is living under different restrictions to me, my wife’s parents different again. My son in law different again.
There’s not laws only guidelines. Extremely vulnerable people (who have an NHS letter) extreme isolation with state support if necessary Over 70’s Isolated Me - locked down key worker, working from home Son in law - locked down, key worker needs to leave the house. Not everyone is living by the same rules.
No; by circumstance. All following government guidance to the letter. all have different ‘restrictions’. And again, your post stated clearly we were ‘all living with the same restrictions’. and we’re not are we? As I’ve illustrated, there’s different restrictions for different groups of people, based on occupation, age and health conditions.
You posted ‘all living under same restrictions’! now what? You changed your mind? Pretending you didn’t mean ‘same restrictions’? apologies for contradicting what you posted, I should have understood it’s not what you meant.
