Will never be able to say a proper goodbye to their stadium Hope they get promotion in the end . Proper club and very fond memories of going their with Barnsley
They are second in NLN, they might get promoted if the national league still promotes and relegates. Cancelled play offs , so teams in 1st and 2nd go up, That will depend if they got balls or not I’d assume. barrow will go up as NL champions as bury went, league 2 will have to promote too to fill the gap in league 1 and then a cascade happens, if bury were in league 2 it would have been easier for all concerned
Feel for my home-town club Harrogate as well, whose rise has been meteoric. They should at least be getting a crack at the playoffs. However, if two go up from every league with no relegation (as has been suggested), then I guess League 2 has the options of either playing with only 22 teams next year while we readjust, or allowing Harrogate and Notts County up and playing with the full 24. To be honest I'm not even sure if Harrogate's ground fits Football League regulations, as I don't think they have 1000 seats. Another point is whether they really need to be promoted to the league. North Yorkshire has not proved to be an area where professional football has thrived. Scarborough went bankrupt and later people involved in the club said that in hindsight promotion to the league was the worst thing that could ever have happened to them. Even a relatively large city like York has failed to sustain a league club. Can Harrogate manage to do this long term? I have my doubts.
Sometimes it's better to be happy where you are. Very uncertain times on the horizon, the longer this situation goes on the more clubs will get dragged into the financial mire.
wealdstone who were top of NLS released a statement saying they weren’t bothered about promotion all they were interested in was the club surviving. an away game costs about £5000 for a club to travel and stay in hotels etc, that’s a heck of a lot for a non league club, some players at Harrogate will be earning around £1000 a week which is crazy but the majority of that league are full time, it’s not posties and brickies doing it for fun anymore.
I'm not disputing what you've said, but I find that unbelievable. I just can't get my head round it at all. £52k a year?
Harrogate have got George Smith playing for them at the minute too - I rated him when he broke through, was disappointed that we released him! Hope they get a crack at promotion, if they want it
Easily and some on more, not all of course some will be on less but not playing for pennies. Adam Rooney was on £4000 a week at Salford, I know they were bankrolled but the national league is a full time league, many players will be taking home over £1000 a week
Footballs ****** £19 for a ticket to watch none league Harrogate play Sutton so that they can pay their players thousands. And we wonder why clubs higher up like us rip fans off
without a shadow of doubt it’s wrong. What happens in the PL filters all the way down eventually, the standards are good in the NL and most clubs will hold their own in league 2 but it’s staggering really, some players at Athersley Rec level will be picking up a hefty wedge
Yo back up now and give a brother room The fuse is lit and I'm about to go boom Mercy mercy mercy me My life is a cage but on stage I'm free Hyped up Psyched up ready for wil'in' Standing in a crowd of girls like an island I see the one I want I say come here cutie I flip 'em around and then I work that booty Work the body work work the body Slow down girl you're 'bout to hurt somebody Oh and yo let's get just one thing clear There's only one reason why I came here Ya really done want me to tig-a-tig-a-tig-a tell ya wassup (GO) Ya really done want me to tig-a-tig-a-tig-a tell ya wassup (GO) Ya really done want me to tig-a-tig-a-tig-a tell ya wassup (GO) I came here tonight to hear the crowd go Boom! shake-shake-shake the room
A real shame as it's their first successful season in years. Over 200k people live there but they can't get people to watch them because most of the locals support Leeds. For a city of their stature they really should be playing in the Football League. I feel for Brentford too who in front of fans look like they have already played their last ever Griffin Park match. Shame for our fans too who would have had the chance to be at the last ever league game there.
