    Archdeacon was quality, great left peg. Signed as a winger but ended up an outstanding wing back. When you watch back some of the old game clips from late 80s and early 90s his quality really shows.

    I’m not so sure any player who gets a testimonial against Manchester United, featuring the then England captain, Brian Robson, can be deemed ‘forgotten’.
    Unsung hero, perhaps, but never forgotten.

    Dean Gorre. Probably because he didn't play that long for us, but if it wasn't for injuries he'd have been playing at a higher level than he did during his time in England.

    Loved Thomas - great player for us.
    Had a discussion about McHale the other day and someone said he was appalling for us - in my opinion he did all the dirty work for the others which allowed the flair players to do their thing

    Mike Lester - been watching loads of old games on YouTube and in all the ones he played in, he stands out for me. I'll never forget the goal at Ayersome Park....

    Steve Davis.

    Had a terrible start after he signed for us in 1991, and then spent the best part of 3 years out injured. But a key part of that defence that eventually helped us to the Premier League. Just a reliable and steady defender, and chipped in with a few goals too.

    Gary Fleming another from that era.

    Ronnie Glavin holds Ray McHale in the highest regard, very similar view to what you've written, in that he did a lot of unseen graft that allowed Glavin and Banks to flourish. Also said that he had a knack of passing the ball at the right time, with the right pace on it, for him to get on the end of without breaking stride.
