Erm you obviously haven’t read the timeline of events then that goes back years. Impossible circumstance exacerbated by awful health policy. It’s a national disgrace what is happening, this is nothing to do with hindsight and everything to do with negligence. This also isn’t party political, we don’t know if the NHS would have been more prepared under labour as they haven’t been in power for 13 years so it’s completely irrelevant. The missed opportunities and own goals by the UK government are plain to see.
I’m pretty certain plastic goggles, the plastic gowns and gloves don’t have a use by date. Which is pretty much what everyone is calling for at the moment.
You build stocks then replace as necessary, when the shelf life has expired, thus keeping a static but adequate resource.
I was referring to our typical and long established vaccines (flu-etc). That article (and it's important to remember that it was written by a journalist) recognizes that drug companies are reticent to rush through a new vaccine (or medication)in case of possible litigation, thalidomide being a notable example of when it goes wrong.
Disaster planning was a big industry , in local government there used to be one bloke who was responsible , then there were teams of disaster planners in part prompted by the Lockerbie disaster , 10years of austerity have seen cut backs in this area . At national government level Flu Pandemic was the one major issue that the planners feared , 2016 they tested the NHS resilience to this and it was found wanting but nothing happened after the report came out . It was known about well In advance but ignored for more pressing financial imperatives like tax cuts for the privileged few, NHS contracts for private sector ,austerity for the rest .
Hi,I wasn't replying in a told you so fashion, it's just that it seems vaccines aren't or weren't the top priority with big pharma, so there's going to be a lag while they get up to speed.
Agreed, they do, the material perishes. But if you stagger the initial stockpiling, and record the use by dates, you can place orders years in advance, knowing when each item reaches its shelf life.
When will people ever ever learn to NOT vote Conservative ? Austerity is/was bad enough and now this..... what will it take ?
They do have expiry dates. Some have been used recently that have had expiry dates re stuck on top of previous expiry dates. I hope to god that’s just that they have been tested and still are useable.
The running down of public services and the lack of staff and basic resources exposes government policy over recent years. No idea how Labour would have done things differently but no confidence in the Government. Do they offer anything to ordinary people apart from Brexit ?
Confinement extended in France until May 11, then schools will reopen but not pubs, restaurants or cinemas. After that they're going to pin their hopes on masks, by the sounds of it.
Way too early. They'll be back where they were two weeks ago in no time, but this time worse. I don't give much credit to the way European countries are tackling this, but if that is the agenda then they have to see it through and May 11 is way short of seeing it through.
