    Paul Piercy, Covid victim.
An old mate of mine is in the band. Hope they are all safe.
    Desperately sad news.

I've seen Backstreet Thunder a couple of times - they are an excellent tribute to a fantastic band. This is shocking news, sympathy to his family and friends.

Panicked when I saw this, I went to school with the other guitarist in this band. :(

Yes, I know him well ... or at least I did, I've not seen him for many years.
He and his brother Graham, from Bentley. They were bellringers at Bentley along with Julian's girlfriend Janette, now his wife.
They used to come to Darfield to ring with us there, it was in the 80s/90s I think. We all, over a dozen of us, used to go on ringing holidays every year, including canal boat holidays. We were all a fabulous team of friends at the time, going ringing and then to the pubs, parties and generally having a great time.
I can only say that I'm relieved that Julian is ok, sad about his band member. It will take a hell of getting over this loss.

Likewise sad, but relieved it’s not Julian.

He was in my form at Don Valley, and I later met him a couple of times when he worked at the school in Bentley and I serviced the small tractor they had on site (a small Leyland IIRC- mid 80’s)

All the time I knew him he was into rock music. He has obviously done well with his guitar playing.
