Nooooooo they're Currant or fruited teeea cakes. I assume thas a bloody Dee dar. Tis a very heated debate when my Dee dar workmates harp on. Same wi fish cakes. Chuffinn numptees.
Ar lass is from Donny ( mexbro) . Her view is same as mine re t cakes n fish cakes. But she's bin a tarn lass for 45 yrs. Tha'll get there int end mate. I've taught all the in laws the rules.
Sorry pal, it doesn’t make any sense. Either tea cakes or fruit tea cakes. To call a fruit tea cake just a tea cake is outright lunacy
slightly o/t - when I moved here was surprised that what I always called 'golden syrup' was referred to as 'treacle.' I always thought treacle was the black stuff.
Not having a pop a anyone for using the CO-OP on here but I took a 10yr policy with them, lost about £600 with them. About 6 months later, after they bailed the piggy pigs out I got my final statement , guess who bailed them out, B@STARDS
Hang on....... Fish cakes?? Potato and fish mashed up with breadcrumbs on the outside= fishcake. Piece of cod or haddock sandwiched between two sliced of potato battered and deep fried = scallop. I am originally not from Barnsley (no sh*t Sherlock) but lived there for on and off for over 43 years but my missus is and I agree on that one. 'Teacakes' on the other hand..... Teacakes have currants IMO; my wife erupts and says I am a moron as there are teacakes and currant teacakes. I say 'teacakes' without currants are breadcakes. Baps( the ones we eat!!) in my World are slightly bigger but my missus denies their existence!! Oh God.!!.. a a I type this the atmosphere here has just turned 'toxic' I need my tin hat!
Don't get me started on the fish cake and scallop thing. I can't handle the confusion so deliberately avoid them because I love the ones with sliced potato but hate the others. I've ordered both at different places and always end up with the crap one
