Out for our daily walk yesterday evening and two joggers ran past us from behind. So close that they nearly knocked us over. We never heard them coming, otherwise we'd have got out of the way. Is there a way of outrunning a virus that I'm unaware of?
We’ve had same twice in last few days. First one I could feel breathing down my neck as he brushed passed the f’in pillock. Annoyed the hell out of me. Seems some runners are so obsessed with their times that social distancing doesn’t come into it for them.
I had one running towards me on the pavement the other day,then she had the nerve to shoot me a dirty look as she went past,as if to say get out of my personal space!
Since the gym is closed, I have no option but to go outdoors for a run. I go early, pre 8am and I mostly see old people still going to collect their paper. And dog walkers who it seems now gave adopted a stance of not picking up dog ****. I run in the road where necessary to stick to the 2 meter rule. Everyone's got their own take on this, own personal gripes. And its a Barnsley trait to fckng moan a lot.
Our street is covered in it at the moment. I guess it’s all the people who don’t normally take the dog out who is not picking it up but it’s ridiculous.
I’m on the other end of the scale here and go running on streets 3 times a week, have done for just under 10 years now (usually 2 nights but since football has been cancelled I swapped it for a run). My take on it is that most runners that I see are courteous and will generally move pretty far out of the way. Pre corona I usually step on to the road as much as I can but currently I’m trying to get as far away from people, it’s typically me crossing the road at the minute. However, it’s the walkers that don’t generally move. Often time don’t even go single file or even try and move over a tiny bit, instead take up the whole path. That really gets on my nerves and it’s just common decency surely? I guess maybe it’s a point of view thing.
I’m pleased to say that the gaggles of cyclists that I usually encounter have left the roads for the time being. Getting to work, between sites and home again is much less frustrating without them living out their tour de yorkshire fantasies. Doubtless we’ll get a double dose when lockdown ends ;(
Must admit I do appreciate some of the gym-fit bodies that wouldn't normally see the light of day that I see on my daily exercise walk.
Grow up. Cycling is far healthier for the individual and better for the environment than sitting in a fume belching tin box. Besides which cycling was on the roads before Johnny-come-lately cars. Cyclist bashing is not clever and it's not funny.
Hope you're staying well my friend. I think it's all down to the attitude of the indiviudal(s). If you're ignorant and selfish, you'd be the same if you were a pedestrian out walking, riding a bike, at the bars of a motorcycle, or behind the wheel of a car. I sound like I'm turning into my Dad, he always used to despair at what he called the loss of common courtesy and decency between people.

Hope you are too mate. 99% of people we’ve come across over the last few days have been mindful of keeping their distance, only been a couple of joggers that didn’t seem to care. Oddly, it was in almost exactly the same place. You do morph into your dad when you get to a certain age, it’s a strange phenomenon. I’ve been there for a few years lol.

Same here. I'd rather take the initiative and swap sides given the chance. Most nights, me and the missus resemble a couple of pinballs, bouncing from side to side of the road as we try to avoid everyone. I've taken to looking behind me every so often as well. At times it feels like we've become extras in The Walking Dead. Just need to keep a better eye out for joggers coming up fast from behind.
Yep, taking the initiative generally works better and puts it in your control. Just think what all this pinballing from side to side is doing for the distance increase though!
The majority of dog owners do pick the **** up. Those that don't will carry on being socially irresponsible tw**s and don't need any excuse.
I have found that when me and the wife go walking around Frickley country park in Sth Elmsall, that hardly anyone gives us space and it is always us that goes out of our way - we are climbing the sidings and walking in the ditches whilst people saunter past us down the middle of the path. It's right annoying the hell out of me. Thinking of hanging a sign round my neck saying "Get out of the fcking way, arsehole!!"
