Isn't this to be expected? Many vulnerable people will have contracted it whilst under government advice to isolate themselves for their protection. The numbers who are dying now haven't necessarily only just contracted it, the majority will be people who contracted the virus before the 'lockdown' and the effects of this enforced isolation won't be seen until at least 2 weeks into it

It isn't ok no. My point was that the number of people currently dying because of contracting the virus prior to lockdown doesn't mean that 'this ain't going away soon'. The figures we are seeing die now have pretty much no relevance to the length of time it will be around.

This obviously isn't going to happen but If not one single person caught covid-19 after the lockdown began then it would all be over and completely wiped out in a matter of weeks. You would still see large numbers of deaths every day for the next couple of weeks though.

First person: omg it's spreading its spreading. Everyone is going to die.
Other person: Calm down. Its Its terrible but fortunately most of those contracted it before these procedures were put in place. Hopefully the spread will be significantly slowed down now but we won't know for a few weeks.
    First person: you negative *******

Not negative but just think your being a bit dismissive to folks that died thats all. 393 people dying in a day is a lot of people with families. Dont think it should just be brushed under carpet as a acceptable statistic thats all.

Who was doing that? I was merely explaining that the number of people currently dying isn't an indicator of the longevity of this situation.

    Did i say that?

It just if you are quoting the head line as your post then include it all.

Its quite significant that all of a sudden they are releasing figures with covid19 as a secondary/primary infection within the mortality rates.

Correct. There is a big difference between died with and died due to.
There are millions of people die with blonde hair every year. Fortunately millions don't die due to having blonde hair

I have asthma. If I'm crossing the road while puffing on my inhaler due to being a bit wheezy but not watching the traffic and I get knocked down by a truck have I died due to my asthma or due to being knocked down by a truck ?

In the UK 1,815 have died. So for the '14 days behind Italy' arguement we've had 688 less lives lost. Our NHS staff are doing incredible in a world situation that's new and not been experienced before.

I said died with, not because of.
Kind of what my point is. Would any of the underlying symptoms sufferers have died today from their underlying symptoms directly. If yes then i agree, the statistic is floored. If they would have lived longer if it wasnt for contracting this virus, its still as important. We seem to be writing people off with Asthma and COPD.
