    End this season
    BUT
Next season start as it is now. For example Liverpool on whatever points they are on ssme wi every other team but still play a full season.
So for example Liverpool could possibly reach 200+ points next season and still have a good chance of winning league
Same wi Football League. Start all teams on points they are on now but play another 46 games.

It may seem a daft Idea but at least teams who have something to play for still have a chance of doing it

That's the fairest simplest way but I don't think the football authorities are looking at this as an option.

That’s a good idea tbh. A handicap system from the start of next season (whenever that is) might just be the fairest way.

I do think they need to finish the current season when it is safe to do so, but quite what that does for the next season I don't know.

I wonder they could split each division in half, in the EFL if not the PL, and have a season with mini-leagues of 12, making it easier to fit games into a shorter season?

For example, the top 12 in the Championship play each other home and away, total of 22 games, top 2 or 3 promoted to the PL. Those from the bottom 12 play likewise, but the bottom 2 or 3 then relegated. Same principle for Leagues one and two.

Then rejoin everything up for the start of what would be the normal 21/22 season.

I also think it would be sensible to suspend the FA Cup and League Cup until 21/22 purely on the basis of allowing time to realign the league programme.

FA cup can be a financial lifeline for clubs. Two seasons I thought it is a lot.

Fair comment. Be nice if the authorities ensured all clubs were helped out, there's enough money in the game. Unfortunately the majority is ring fenced for 20 clubs.

It's a very complex issue, that may also depend on the circumstances in European leagues. With qualification for European competitions to decide, everything has a domino effect.

I agree. If one set of leagues is cancelled then I don't see how the other leagues can't follow suit unless the primary motivation is financial. It could create a legal minefield.
