There won't be many staff to applaud soon. Quite a few staff have now had to self-isolate. I reckon in 2 weeks we will be in crisis.
Our lass is an A&E nurse at Barnsley General and I'll be joining in the applause to her personally and to all her colleagues up and down the country who do a fantastic job all the time.
My wife works in ICU and currently working stupid hours. I for one are very proud to say my wife works for the NHS .
The people who work for the NHS are fantastic. Personal experience over many years is all I need to know that. They deserve all the accolades they get. However, 'Clap for our carers' could have been thought out.......Just saying.
The people in the NHS and particularly the Hospitals are generally special people to do what they do on a day to day basis. But to be doing it now and knowing in the near future what is coming and still trying to fight against the tide and willing to not only be at risk but to also potentially risk loved ones makes them truly not only special but real life heroes in my eyes.
These people are as much heroes as front line soldiers during conflict. They literally are risking their lives (I hope that proves to be a major exaggeration, mind) for the good of the country. My eldest is a nurse on the AMU Ward, at Barnsley, she has been told that she has been in contact with a Covid-19 patient, and has been told to carry on regardless. Doesn’t sound right to me, but she soldiers on along with the rest of her new breed of heroes.
The mrs is getting emotionally prepared for what’s coming to her and her colleagues in the next couple of months. They’re all amazing and people are still pushing in front of them at the Asda/tesco etc
If it wasn't for medical staff here and in Germany I could have lost our lass twice in the last year so it's a massive thank you from me !!!
Totally agree, Service men etc deserve their recognition over the years and I’m sure for years to come. There is a significant difference in this though* in that Soldiers etc go into conflict to protect their friends and family, with both very rarely at risk as a result, however NHS go into this conflict knowing they are putting their family and friends at risk and have to deal with that mental anguish before, during and after. * Disclaimer to all the people who serve on here it is no way an attempt to deflect from what they do!
