At no stage has anyone ever said that healthy over-70s needn't follow the measures. That's your wishful thinking.

So admin decides upon what we are allowed or not allowed to post about Corona virus?

Any extreme ("scaremongering") post should be met with facts/common sense etc. from the more sensible brethren on here.

Debate. And conclude. That will kill off anything ridiculous.

Censorship on here would be abitrary and ill administered.

Couple of things I found out today I thought was worth sharing:

Washing your hands for 20 seconds with warm water is far more successful than using an anti bac gel
A good quality Bleach is also very effective and washing of surfaces would kill the virus too.

Appreciate a lot may say it’s obvious etc but thought worth sharing

Despite the misinformation in the thread it shouldn't be deleted. When that happens to a thread you just end up with a new one started from someone asking where it's gone to.

I am following advice about social distancing - over 70s have NOT been advised to self isolate at this time. I’m sounding like a cracked record. Just READ the information carefully.

I'm on Day 3 of the lock down, which is currently in place until 7th April. We can go out for a walk, if you practice social distancing. We can also visit the doctor or go to buy food. However, when I went to the supermarket on Monday, they were mobbed and the shelves stripped, so I gave up. I'll just have to eat what I have and then reassess. I've just ordered a dozen NZ Meat Pies online, but the delivery date is not confirmed. I've around 30 bottles of wine, so I should be fine. Restaurants can only provide delivery or take-out orders and all bars are closed. We do have (expensive) online booze delivery services, so I may have to use them,

Living alone though, cabin fever is setting in.

Try finding a hobby you can do at home. Teach yourself web design, for example. Order a Raspberry PI and learn how to do stuff with it. Pick a topic (not viruses!) and research it on the net. Learn how to write a simple app for a smart phone. Learn how to use Open Street Map to plan and map walking routes. Look at my website (www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk) and tell me if you spot any typos. Good luck!

I have stopped going to the gym (Burntwood Court) for the last two weeks now - and am exercising at home. Checking the website I see that the club is running a full schedule of classes. The spinning classes which I enjoy are full, and that means there are 16 people in a small room on exercise bikes breathing hard quite close to each other. Good to see that people are taking this social distancing thing seriously. The gym does provide antiseptic wipes and gel, and there is printed advice about corona virus. I decided not to risk it for the time being.....

Social distancing is futile if you aren't going to test more civilians and make the policy mandatory. There will always be that person that turns up at the hospital with that whimsical enquiry that coughs across reception desk that just might kill you.

Thats interesting - the fitness company I use runs a mixture of indoor and outdoor classes. Usually this time of year they are mostly indoor with just a couple of outoor bootcamps - but this week they have totally changed their approach - No indoor classes - all classes practical - HIIT Circuits etc moved outside and using body weight exercises rather than kettlebells Ropes etc. They will still lend you a mat but request you bring your own if possible
oh and limited to max 10 people - usually the outdoor ones are max 20. I would go but still cant shake a cough I've had for 5 weeks now (almost certainly not C19 related) so waiting until I can excercise without causing a panic

It dies faster on copper (2-3 hours) than on cardboard (24 hours). It dies faster at higher temperatures (apparently) - although that was only announced yesterday.
