No it hasn't. Social distancing has been advised. You are only advised to self isolate if you or anyone you live with has symptoms of COVID
I thought they'd asked over 70s and vulnerable people to isolate for up to 12 weeks? Or was that "we will be asking you to in the coming days"? My elderly relatives are all isolating, anyway - better safe than sorry.
No advice has yet been given for over 70s to self isolate. Matt Hancock has said it may be necessary at some point, I don’t know where you have heard it will happen this weekend - that’s just another rumour
They have said in the coming days it will be asked, for a period of 12 weeks. It is not a rumour. https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.s...latest-government-advice-on-covid-19-11958934
Factories are being advised to amend work practices where possible and some sections close (no idea how that works) where 'distancing' is not possible they close. Agricultural suppliers(Agrarios) hardware stores in rural areas only are allowed to stay open, food shops and farmacias are open everywhere. All fishing is suspended as they cannot guarantee 'distancing' on boats. I understand takeaways and mobile food vans can open with restricted hours although no fishing means the mobile fish van will not be around. Most supermarkets are running delivery services for vulnerable individuals who phone up to order (only probvably works in rural areas like ours as I cant see how that it can in large towns and cities. .The Govt have suspended all business taxes, and like the Earthquakes I understand utility bills are also suspended for many businesses. I have not delved into the financial help for individuals as a) we are retired and not desperate for money and b) in lockdown so not spoken to many people other than the one or two Facebook and Whatsapp groups we are on. I believe billions of Euros are being pumped into the economy Most people here seem to be resigned to it but depression and negativity is largely missing. That said, material stuff generally is seen as less important here than family & friends. Most talk seems to be about being unable to go to the bars and restaurants, no coffee rituals and all the local music scene on hold (hence the ubiquitous 'music on balconies' . I suspect many small businesses and individuals are suffering but there is little news of panic buying apart from one or two isolated incidents in the major cities in the North. Lots of posts social media "Tutto andra Bene" morale boosting circulating from kids and adults. After the Earthquakes and floods it is just seen as another challenge to overcome. Sorry to rant but It is one of the reasons I get a bit p*ssed off when I see all the negativity in the UK media and social media. Another one today........ BBC reporting "highest daily jump in deaths in Italy" (TRUE) linked with "after Italy has been in total Lockdown for 2 weeks" UNTRUE" it was actually last Thursday-ONE WEEK- as we were sitting outside our local bar last Wednesday lunchtime (albeit 1 metre apart from the next table and were served rather than going to the bar and the announcement came thrugh at 10pm that evening . Not sure if it was a reporting error or BBC implying that lockdown isn't working. Either way it does nothing to calm fears that lockdown is ineffective.
See post 55 above. The total lockdown for Italy has only been in force for 1 week not long enough to cover incubation period so it will probably be at least another 10 days to a fortnight before they can judge how effective it has been.
My Mrs works in the white bull restaurant at Cannon Hall Farm, they’ve now closed it and only the farm shop and bakery remains open.
