Similar circumstances with a colleague of mine today Ian, as you know, we're health workers. Her youngest developed fever and cough at school, so now in 14 days isolation with her youngest, her other daughter andthe grandad who is a regular school pick up and her childcare. If your colleagues child deteriorates or is no better after 7 days then they must seek medical attention. The 7 day window appears to be the typical period for becoming ill and then showing improvement and sometimes recovering, and for most people affected, it's managing the symptoms with fluids, pain relief etc. Which is sensible for both the patient and the system unless symptoms worsen or are prolonged. The cough can persist for quite a while. The inability to test is a huge problem. If healthcare staff who develop symptoms could be tested, many of them will give negative results and could then come back to work, albeit feeling under the weather. Whereas at present, they are out of the workforce for 14 days, and not necessarily wihh Covid 19. My wife's hospital is currently turning test results around on patients within 10 hours, so it's possible that staff with symptoms could know by the following day if they can return to work. This assumes current capacity for testing can keepnup with demand. Testing, I think, would be the biggest step change in the short term. People may need testing on repeated occasions. Wish your friend and his child well from me, I love your part of the world as you know.
Are you just looking to pass the responsibility to someone else? Anyone but Boris? Please note I said responsibility and not blame. Johnson said at yesterday’s conference that the buck stopped with him. Who the f*** is wee nippy?
No the government is responsible for the response taken to the crisis. The virus is responsible for the deaths. I would hope that Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson would be coordinating efforts. If not, why not? In which case Boris & Co should include Nicola Sturgeon.
Boris can only follow what advice is being given. And that advice is coming from mi brothers and mi nephews university - Imperial. The guys at the Imperial know what they are talking about. As far as I’m concerned Boris and co have done a terrific job under difficult circumstances - made worse by a media frenzy.
Didn’t argue with that Nudge, but it is still open to question and our response is different to that taken by other countries. It may be better, but we don’t know. We now have a target of less than 20000 deaths. We changed course when the expert evidence showed we were on track for 250000. I sympathise with Boris & Co for the decisions they have to take. I wouldn’t like to take them. A few days ago I said that my sister in law had it. Well she’s doing OK. I’ve since learned that my daughter has the symptoms. Neither have been tested and whole families are self isolating. My wife and I are self isolating because I’m over 70 and I have asthma. I’m taking the government’s advice. I still feel equipped to judge the effectiveness of the strategy.
Absolute rubbish !!! The blokes had a lot more warning than other countries , he’s ignored media briefings and didn’t start briefing the nation till he was forced . The bloke didn’t take this seriously just like his dad . The Tory party will get shut of this imbecile and his Commie nut jack before the summers out you mark my words .
Gosport war memorial hospital is a fully functioning hospital and isn’t shut to reopen. Haslar military hospital in Gosport was closed a few years ago, I wouldn’t imagine it’s very easy or hygienic to reopen it however.
A target of 20,000 deaths in the UK would make it roughly 120x more dangerous in the UK than it has been in China. Just think about that for a moment. If you were aware of a pandemic in the Far East (it was notified to WHO on December 30th) and didn't prepare, and as a result of your decisions it was worse in the country where it first started, then you have to look in the mirror and admit you got it wrong. When we have the inquest, Johnson and his advisers are not going to come out of it well.
Definitely they won’t . These actions what we’re seeing now should have been implemented weeks ago!! He waited to see if it were gonna be as bad , he took the wrong advice , specialists were calling for lockdown three weeks ago and it could have saved some of those lives that were unfortunately lost recently .
But he is taking scientific advice from scientists......their responsevis science led....by scientists......so whatever happens it won't be his or his governments fault.
It will he won’t get out of this and imo the political landscape of a lot of country’s will look different before this is done .
Trump and Johnson will def be gone the latter by his own party imo . Healthcare will be at the forefront of almost every economy .
If Johnson knew about this in Mustique and continued his holiday he deserves all that he gets. In fact if any of them knew this was coming and thought that anything else in government was anywhere near as important as this (Brexit, budget HS2, Inderef 2). They should all be shot!
The government knew about this on or before 17th January. This was the time that the USA started to screen passengers at airports. https://www.pharmaceutical-technolo...-timeline-of-how-the-deadly-outbreak-evolved/
