But what if as a player I don't want to sign any extension to a contract to finish the season. You can't make me. I want to sign for my new club and ×××× my old one as soon as I am legally allowed to do so. You have no power as my current club to stop me. My contract is legally clear and water tight.

Contracts wouldn't change so players could move in that scenario but it would be upto the relevant leagues to decide if clubs were allowed to register new players.

Players contracts wouldn't alter. Even now you can sign any player outside a transfer window. He just can't play for you until the next registration period aka transfer window. Now the leagues couldn alter this or not that's upto them.

Willing to bet now Stoke away won't be our first match back. I don't see any other way apart from the season being chalked off on medical grounds.

Not taking your bet on the stoke game - still think there is a good chance to finish the season if the Euros move to 2021

Managers moan about fixture pile up as it is. Imagine trying to fit in just short of double figures worth of games and then play off games before contracts at clubs run out at the end of June. I just cannot see it happening. Any delay in next season will result in more of a fixture pile up than usual to get the season finished for May 2021. It would actually be harsh to teams like Liverpool, Leeds and Coventry who are all in great positions. But this is an extreme circumstance which is hopefully never to be seen again.
