    FA Charge: Further Information
    Club News

Barnsley Football Club were charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 in January 2020. The charge relates to discriminatory chants aimed at James McClean, heard during the Sky Bet Championship clash between Barnsley FC and Stoke City at Oakwell on November 9, 2019.

As anything happened with regards Huddersfield and Millwall doing exactly the same thing?

    He’s not disrespectful.
    No we can’t fine him.
It doesn’t matter what other clubs fans have done / do.
Our response to this was a disgrace.

I think they ticked the right boxes for the club measures to supposedly prevent it. Our club apparently didnt

Of course it is when we have Mr Clegg saying he should be used to racism and brushing it off, a safety officer who doesn't know what our policies are for trying to stop racism and a CEO who doesn't know the basics of our finances.

Easier? It's like shooting fish in a barrel due to our incompetence

Disappointed that the further information doesn't explain what we've done regarding Peter Clegg and doesn't even attempt to acknowledge nevermind apologise for our completely inept attitude towards discrimination that was highlighted in all its embarrassing detail at the fa charge.

that was also my thought, lots on educating fans and stewards which are both needed but also a total lack of responsibility from those at the top it seems. Unless that has been actioned and they thought they wouldn’t bother to inform us.

As in he isn't used by Doyle's for Barnsley matches anymore?

They should really have included that in their statement to reassure people imo

We weren’t punished in the main due to the fans who did this.

The punishment is due to having next to no measures in place to try and prevent it, for not reacting at all for an age and doing little when they did, and for being absolutely inept when talking to the investigating panel.

If you haven’t read the findings, do so. It makes grim reading.

Yeah the statement should have mentioned that and they should have taken the chance distance themselves from his actions by saying he acted unprofessionally.

    I’ve just read this charge.
And I haven’t a clue what was chanted.
Am I understanding what happened here - because on the face of it I think there should be a reassessment of this charge.

If the people of Britain recognise Poppy Day for all the sacrifices that our lads and lasses have made over the decades - some of those sacrifices to the extent of laying down their own lives.
And then an individual comes along and disrespects those lads and lasses.
Then which party is deemed as anti-social here ???
If the German Chancellor can respect Poppy Day - why can’t a footballer ?

It's not to do with what's said, but to do with how the club responded to it. The club should have known his stance after all. Maybe next year he will just come on the pitch when the silence is finished, to me that seems a better solution.
