It is, but how is answering it from far away and being able to see who is there worse than having a doorbell that you can't see and just not answering it?

Surely just not answering gives away that you're not home more than answering from far away does? For all they know, I could be answering it from inside.

Just on the ads they talk on it so I thought it might alert a burglar if you said leave a parcel, would suggest you werent home.

Arlo pro 4, completely wireless system, not cheap, just under £1k for 4 cameras, but brilliant and easily set up yourself. 4k quality, superb night vision and stores unlimited history online for £9 a month after free period. Remotely viewable and u can speak to/shout at someone outside your house when you're not even in the country. Also, I've stopped watching the telly, just watch the playback of all the wildlife visiting the garden at night, seen foxes, deer, badgers......left food out for the fox and discovered a barn owl taking it! I'm hooked :D

My mate installs CCTV and when i asked him for a price for installing some - he said before you spend money on that have you got:
    1.anti snap locks (I bought https://www.ultion-lock.co.uk/)
    2. decent quality doors
3.Frame Jambs (little toggles you put on the frame to stop windows and doors being forced (https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/273412829694?chn=ps)
    4. laminated glass instead of toughened glass in the large windows and doors ()
    5. Patlock on your patio doors handles (https://www.patlock.co.uk/)

after the physical stuff then perhaps look at the CCTV or ring - we had a burglary on our street and they just took the hard drive recorder with them when they broke in, I did the stuff my mate mentioned and then put a couple of ring floodlight cams up - so at least with them you know there's someone there at the time rather than looking at who it was after the event.

The appeal for me is being able to tell the trick or treaters to **** off and not to answer if its the window cleaner :)

I suspect you won't want to pay too much. If you are willing to spend more money then you can use companies that provide surveillance and response - for a price. I use Verisure. All doors and windows are alarmed - I have two internal cameras, and a zero vision unit. If someone gets in then the alarm goes off, the operators can see if anyone is in the property, and can set off the zero vision if necessary - that fills the property with a harmless vapour that they can't see anything through. There is a central unit with panic button, and if the alarm goes off the operator comes on to check if you are in the property - you have a code word. 999 is immediately called and there is a guard response. Also it comes with big signs to say what will happen. That doesn't come cheap - it's £45 a month but I do live in Thurnscoe. I also have a patlock for the French window doors - so they can't be easily forced open.
