Went into the stands tonight after the game. Apparently to confront a fan who was being racist. Videos all over Twitter with it
Hard to tell but on at least one of the videos the caption is about him fighting. I'm also not sure about the racism part be side mourinho stated that it was something to do with diers younger brother.
Certainly looks like he’s throwing his arms at someone at the start. Do you know what , you can’t condone this from a football player, but I fear it will take something like this (or worse) to make the authorities actually deal with the issue.
His brother looks to have been watching the game in one of the lower tiers and overheard a derogatory comment from a fan. From what you are able to make out, is that he's then somehow let his brother Eric know and he's then seen fit to confront the person making the comments. Looks like Jose is standing by him whilst rightly saying he was wrong to take the action that he did. Can't see any other outcome than the FA handing him a fine and a possible suspension myself. You simply can't do what the lad has done and hope to get away with it. Be interesting what action if any, the Club takes against the supporter involved. Eric Dier: Tottenham midfielder involved in altercation with fan after 'insult' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51747014
It's amazing how these things only happen when a team is playing *****. Tottenham are garbage at the minute and Dier isn't exactly first name on the team sheet. I don't think he'll mind the holiday myself.
From what they are saying now, the area where the incident took place is used to seat corporate clients, so the person involved might not even be a Spurs fan.
As a mental health nurse working in in-patient services I get insulted regularly by patients (and staff ). Good job I don't decide to react like Dier: professional and appropriate intervention required.
I think he only went to remonstrate ( from what I can gather) like Cauley dud at the Brentford match rather than physically assault. To me there is a difference BUT as Jose says it's not the professional approach.
Wasn't racism though. Someone apparently was calling him nasty names and his brother then became embroiled in an altercation with said person. Dier couldn't possibly have heard this but reacted to what he could see. Very naughty.
It confuses me. Some saying racism v Fernandes, others stuff about Eric’s family. Whatever it is, some fans think they can shout whatever abuse they want - I reckon it must have been bad to provoke such a reaction from Eric Dier - he’s not known for losing his rag
